[00:00:02] Welcome to Wednesday One-Shot, the series where we share a bonus story with you to help you get through that midweek slump. This week we have a story from a listener named Jessica Rose 94. I've been listening to the podcast religiously for the past few months, starting from the
[00:00:30] beginning, and I realized that I have been lucky enough to lead a fairly normal life. There were only two instances in my youth that I want to share on the podcast. The first instance happened when I was in grade school, perhaps around 10 years old.
[00:00:46] My class and I were on a field trip to the Denver Art Museum. We were on the school bus on the highway and I was looking out the window. I loved getting a window seat. I liked to look at all the cars passing by.
[00:00:57] I wondered where they were going, curious about their paths and their lives. Honestly, I was looking for dogs too. We caught up to this beige sedan type car. It was filthy inside. As my window got closer to the car, I first saw the back seat.
[00:01:14] It was practically filled from the floor to the back window with trash. I saw food wrappers, takeout bags and dirty clothes. It looked like a dumpster but it was in fact somebody's vehicle. As we caught up to the car, I saw the front seat come into view.
[00:01:31] I realized that the passenger seat was the same, filled with trash and garbage. Thankfully I couldn't smell the inside of that car. Now finally, I got a look at the driver. He was a man in his 60s.
[00:01:45] He had his pants pulled down to his knees and well, I'll let you guess what else was going on. I pulled myself away from the window in shock. I was so young but I knew what was going on. I didn't immediately grasp what I had just seen though.
[00:02:02] Since I was a kid, I asked the kids around me to look at the man simply because I wanted to make sure that I wasn't mistaken. There were tons of screams and eww being cried out by everyone around me.
[00:02:14] I remember we told the teacher but there wasn't anything that could be done but just keep on going and try to get some distance from this guy. As an adult looking back on it, I can't believe that the person would expose themselves
[00:02:28] around a bus full of children while driving a vehicle at 65 mph on a highway. Pervert dude, I hope we never meet. Now onto the second instance that I had. I was about 13 and my family and I were on a trip to a beautiful lake town in the mountains.
[00:02:44] My family consists of my parents, two older brothers, me and my younger brother. We all went on this trip every summer. We'd rent this condo and we'd stay for a week in this beautiful town to enjoy hiking and boating. It was my favorite yearly vacation.
[00:03:01] The condo we rented every year was next to the lake's marina but it was up a steep hill. The only way to go down to the marina was to take the winding blacktop paved path that zigzagged down the cliffside.
[00:03:15] There was a sharp rope fence that separated the condo from this path. Sharp, as in the rope itself hurt to touch. It gave fibrous splinters occasionally so it wasn't fun to try and go under or over it.
[00:03:30] Late one night, my dad and I were sitting on the balcony of the condo. The only thing below us was the carports under the building. I was playing my Nintendo DS and my dad went inside to use the restroom and get a refill on his drink.
[00:03:44] The path that was next to the carport, separated by this sharp rope, was very busy. People biked, walked and jogged on it constantly. It was connected to the path that nearly wrapped around the lake so it was a path to take for exercising and sightseeing.
[00:03:59] Even at night I would see people there with bikes and lights on their helmets to illuminate the way as the path had no lights. That being said, when I initially saw a male dressed in all black with his hoodie pulled up I didn't think much about him.
[00:04:14] To me he was just a guy walking on the path. No biggie. He got to the part of the path that was closest to the balcony and then just stopped. He was about 20 feet away from me. The balcony was probably 12 feet off the ground.
[00:04:30] I thought that it was odd that he stopped but again, it was a busy road so I just looked at him. My face was illuminated by my DS so he could see my face but I couldn't see his.
[00:04:43] After about 30 seconds he grabbed the rope and began to climb over it. I froze. It scared me that he was coming over the rope fence as it was sharp. It would poke into your hands and your clothes and that was something nobody with a sound
[00:04:57] mind would put themselves through unless they were desperate or determined. The guy climbed over this rope and then walked straight to our balcony. He was now right in front of me. We were about a good 12 feet off the ground so he couldn't reach up but I was worried
[00:05:14] that he would find something to stand on so that he could grab the railing and climb in. I jumped to my feet and ran inside to get my dad. I told him about the weirdo who climbed over the rope but by the time my dad got back to
[00:05:25] check the guy was back on the path and walking away. I have no idea who it was, what he was thinking or what he wanted but it was the first time I instinctively felt danger. Guy in the shadows I hope we never meet.
[00:05:40] Thank you everyone for listening and thank you to JessicaRose94 for submitting that story. If you have a story to share send it to letsnotmeetstories at gmail.com. I'll see you all next week for season 11 and a full episode of Let's Not Meet, a true horror podcast. Stay safe.
