[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Forget facts. Forget logic. Forget everything that seems real. You just trust. Believe.
[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: The Back Door by Mallory. I've been a funeral director and embalmer for the last 12 years,
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's the only career I've ever had. Working day to day in a funeral home seems spooky to many
[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: people, but it's actually pretty boring as far as ghosts and goblins are concerned. I've always
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: been interested in the paranormal, but to my slight disappointment, funeral homes for the most part
[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: are not haunted. They're mostly just normal buildings that happen to house people who aren't
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: living anymore. However, the first funeral home I worked for is an exception. Located in Atlanta,
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Georgia, this particular funeral home was very busy. We worked hours similar to a firehouse. 48 hours on,
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: 24 hours off. That way we were ready at a moment's notice if a death occurred, or if we needed to drive
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: somewhere in the middle of the night. When you were on call overnight, you had to sleep in the funeral
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: home. Due to this, we had this little old futon in the corner in the back and a small bathroom with
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: a shower, sink, and toilet. Otherwise, it was a far cry from homey. The futon was in the back,
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: among the shelves of embalming fluid and cleaning supplies. Sleeping in there always gave me the
[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: creeps, but I took some comfort in knowing the building was very secure with deadbolts and keypad
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: locks at both the front and back doors. The front door faced the main street, where cars drove by
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and or people waited for the bus. The back door opened into the employee parking lot, so the only people who
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: ever used that door were staff. When you came through the back door, you could either go to the right,
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: or up a ramp to the main floor of the building where the office's embalming area and storage space were.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: If you went to the left, you'd go down a ramp and around a corner into the basement.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: This was where we had our refrigeration unit for the deceased, and it's where we stored extra caskets
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and cots. From the basement, there was a long staircase that went up to the main floor,
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and at the top of the staircase was a heavy metal door that made a lot of noise when it opened,
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and even more noise when it closed with a loud bang.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Through the metal door was a tiny hallway, then another door into the employee kitchen.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: The storage area, aka my sometimes bedroom,
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: was on the other side of the wall of this hallway. Anytime someone came through the back door,
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I could hear them through the wall coming from the basement, up the stairs, and through the loud
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: metal door. I woke up on that futon early one morning, surprised that my phone hadn't rung all night.
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I was glad though, because it was rare to get a full night's sleep on that futon.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I got out of bed at around 7am, knowing I had the place all to myself until everyone started coming
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: in at 8.30. So I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and just got ready for my day.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Then I took advantage of my spare time and did one of my favorite things,
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: scrolling through my phone while I sat on the toilet. I must have sat there for just a couple
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: of minutes when I heard someone entering the code into the keypad at the back door. I heard the beeps,
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and then the back door opened. I sat there and listened as someone came up the basement stairs
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and through the heavy metal door. I then heard the bang, and everything.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Damn, I thought, Julie must be early today. Julie was one of the other funeral directors,
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and was a notorious morning person who was always extremely early. I listened to her walk down the
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: hallway, and then go through the second door into the kitchen. I figured I should probably get off of
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: my phone and go say good morning to her, make some coffee for everyone, and get our day started.
[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So I left the bathroom after washing my hands and went through the hallway into the kitchen.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But there was no Julie. I then walked into the front area of the funeral home, through the lobby,
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and into the main office where the employees worked. No Julie there either. I was very confused.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I knew that I heard someone come through the back door. Thinking that she maybe went out back
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: without me hearing her, I called Julie on her cell phone. Hello? Julie answered on the first ring.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I wanted to see where you went, I said. I'm about ten minutes away. I'll be there in a little bit,
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: she replied cheerfully. I could hear that she was driving because the radio was playing softly
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: in the background. I just, well, you haven't come into work yet? I asked, feeling the bottom of my
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: stomach drop out. No, but I'm close. I'll be there soon, okay? Julie assured. My hands got sweaty.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I told her okay as I hung up. Who else could be there? Maybe someone we work with forgot something
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and came in to grab it? I went from room to room looking for anyone. The office, embalming area,
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: laundry room, storage area, closets, the basement. But there was nothing. There was no one.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The doors were all locked. I was still alone in the funeral home. I went back to the front lobby and
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I sat on one of the couches. My heart was pounding and my senses were on high alert. Sure enough,
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: about ten minutes later, Julie pulled into the back parking lot. She unlocked the back door,
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: came through the back hall, and then through the kitchen to find me on the couch. When I saw her,
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I explained why I called her, and together, we both looked through the whole building again.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And again, found nobody. This is the only thing that has ever happened to me that I've
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: confidently classified as paranormal. None of my coworkers ever admitted to coming in that morning
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: or leaving quickly, which was essentially the only other solution that there would be.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: My old boss started the business back in the 1980s and worked hard to turn it into the busy
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_01]: establishment that it is today. He died just a few months after I started working there,
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and his brother inherited the place. Sometimes I wonder if perhaps he came back for a visit that
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: morning or just wanted to make sure we were taking care of the place.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: To preface, I'm an incredibly skeptical person. I don't believe in ghosts or the paranormal,
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: but there is one event in my life that presents a genuine conflict to me of what's real and what's
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: not. I grew up in my family's generational home. My grandparents built it, raised my father there along
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_00]: with his siblings, and eventually my parents ended up owning the house. We moved there when I was
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: around six. It's a very calm and beautiful area, but steeped in a lot of dark history.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: The house is a short walk from an island that was a fortification for a militia that fought in
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: the siege of Savannah. You can walk there and see the bunkers, find cannonballs, and plenty of
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: indigenous pottery. Most of the area was used for training, and also had plenty of plantations.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You can dig around in the backyard and find bullets and other relics. Because so much happened
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_00]: there, you can feel a palpable weight in the air. It's a unique energy of feeling like you're
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: somewhere sacred. I don't know how to explain it exactly. However, I adored growing up there.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I always felt comfortable, and it's the one place I can go to relax and feel at home.
[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The house itself is a two-story, ranch-style building. My bedroom was upstairs along with
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: my sister's. My entire childhood I was obsessed with technology and video games. On my 10th birthday
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I was gifted a PS2 for my uncle. I was overjoyed, and we set it up in a room across from my bedroom.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The exercise room where my dad had set up a home gym. Needless to say, I spent the majority of my
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: time in there, playing video games and doing what I love. Now, here's the thing. In the back of the
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: room, there is a large closet with heavy wooden doors that slide open from the middle. I never
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_00]: considered myself to be sensitive or anything of that nature, but the closet gave me the absolute
[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: creeps. I always felt like something was watching me from the closet. I had nightmares about it opening.
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I would close the room when I went to bed because I hated looking into its darkness at night.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I kept this all to myself and never expressed my discomfort. But it all came to a head during a
[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: sleepover with my cousins. We decided to bonk on a mattress in the exercise room and all sleep
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: together. I ended up on the side of the bed directly next to the closet. I was about 11 or 12 at the time.
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_00]: As I tried to sleep, I experienced actual terror. A true fight-or-flight response just by being next
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: to the closet. To this day, I've never felt so terrified. It was like the pure energy and feeling
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: coming from the closet was overwhelming me. I started to cry and explained what I was feeling.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: They sympathized with me and let me sleep away from the closet. I eventually got to sleep,
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: but that feeling has stuck with me for more than a decade now. Well, that's all cool and all,
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: but being a child is an incredibly trippy experience, and I wrote it off as me letting my fear take over.
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I never forgot about it, but I never brought it up again. Most importantly to the story,
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I never told my dad. He's always been a no-bullshit kind of guy when it comes to the paranormal.
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_00]: He had never in my life talked to me about any experiences he had until I was much older,
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: moved out, and married in my 20s. But one night at dinner, he opened up about his own
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: unexplainable experience. Come to find out, the exercise room was his bedroom when he was growing up
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: there. And he hated it as well. The same feeling of being watched, of pure dread,
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_00]: of overwhelming discomfort just from being in its presence. Remember, I never told him of my experience,
[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: so I was amazed he was corroborating my own feelings. Then he explained something that I
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: never thought would come out of his mouth, considering how much of a skeptic he is.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: One night, when he was attempting to fall asleep, he felt that familiar feeling. It grew stronger and
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_00]: stronger until the closet forcefully threw itself open in front of him. He ran out of the room in
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: absolute terror. The fact that we both had a similar experience with something of this nature,
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_00]: without ever directly communicating about it, but having corroborating stories, is to this day
[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the one thing I'll never be able to explain.
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I genuinely cannot come up with any theory. This is simply something neither of us will ever understand.
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's not a scary story, but it's one that will stick in my mind forever.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I remain a skeptic, but there's nothing I can do to refute what happened to us.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Listener discretion is advised.
[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Strange Encounter in the Woods by Financial Cheek, 1624
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_01]: One night, my friend Sam and I decided to go smoke somewhere.
[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I got into his beat-up Ford, and we set off.
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I lived in Vermont, where there were plenty of turn-offs and hidden smoke spots,
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: so you just had to look for them.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: That night, Sam and I were bored, so we decided to find a new spot.
[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_01]: It was one of those nights where you could already tell that we would be out until at least 3am.
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, I told my parents that I was staying at his house and his mom wasn't around much
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and didn't care what time we got back.
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We left his house at around 10.30, picked up some bud from a local dealer,
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and started driving down the usual back roads that we had known our entire lives.
[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_01]: We began taking random turns, hoping to find roads that we hadn't explored yet,
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: but still hadn't made any progress.
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Being in high school, any sign of life or the possibility of a cop just freaked us out,
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_01]: so that really narrowed down our options.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Essentially, we found ourselves quite literally in the middle of nowhere,
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_01]: just driving down winding back roads.
[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw what looked like a potential spot,
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_01]: a turn-off with no signs or markings of any kind.
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We turned up the road in his beat-up white Ford
[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and headed up what appeared to be an access road for power lines.
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_01]: After a while of driving on two tire tracks separated by some grass,
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: we reached a small clearing with the makeshift parking lot,
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: where service vehicles had access to the power lines.
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We set up in the front seat,
[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_01]: with the car on and the headlights still pointed at the forest,
[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: while we hit a few bowls.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: After a while, there was a lull in the conversation,
[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and we were both completely baked,
[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: staring at the forest illuminated by the headlights.
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly, Sam sat up and asked me,
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that a deer?
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I sat up, and I looked out the window at what he was pointing at.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: From where I was sitting,
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: it looked like a deer was resting in the gravel,
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: but it was sitting almost unnaturally.
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Sam threw the car into gear and pulled up next to it.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We both got out, turned off the car,
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and pulled out our flashlights on our phones.
[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_01]: We walked over to it and realized that it was a deer,
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but not all of it.
[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the head and the skin,
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: but there was no meat or blood,
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: just the head attached to the skin.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We both started saying,
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: What the fuck?
[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: As we looked at it,
[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: why would a hunter fully clean a deer
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and just leave the head and skin?
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Sam replied,
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: picking up a stick.
[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: He flipped it over,
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: revealing a strange symbol carved into the other side.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It looked almost like a plus sign,
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: except all of the lines were curved and embellished
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: with strange accent marks.
[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't think to take a picture,
[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_01]: but in hindsight, we probably should have.
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Almost immediately after this,
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: we heard noises coming from down along the power lines.
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_01]: For those who don't know,
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: when there are big power lines running through the forest,
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: they clear all of the trees underneath,
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: leaving a narrow strip of clearing
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: along the length of the lines.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: The access road was on a ridge line,
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and the power line ran perpendicular to the ridge
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: so we could see all the way down the hill
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_01]: into the valley
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and then up the other side
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: through the narrow clearing
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: where there weren't any trees.
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: After hearing the noises,
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_01]: we turned our flashlights off,
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: thinking that it might be service workers
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: about to bust us.
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We stopped and listened for a moment.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: The sounds were distant,
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: so we moved to the edge of the gravel to hear better.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: The noises got louder,
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and it sounded like people breaking sticks.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Then suddenly, we saw 20 to 25 people
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: burst out of the tree line
[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_01]: about 100 yards away,
[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: full-on sprinting from tree line to tree line
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_01]: across the clearing.
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The starlight was bright enough
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to see that the men were wearing all black,
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Amish-looking clothing,
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but without the hats.
[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: The women were wearing white dresses,
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_01]: holding them above their knees as they sprinted.
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We had no idea why they were running,
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_01]: but almost instantly,
[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Sam and I had the same thought.
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: We both made a beeline for his car.
[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Sam peeled out of the gravel parking spot
[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and headed back down the access road.
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: The whole time in that passenger seat,
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I kept repeating,
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: What the fuck?
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What the fuck?
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We both started laughing at the insanity
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: of what we had just witnessed.
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_01]: At this point,
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: we were doing about 60 miles per hour
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: down the barely-marked road,
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and out of nowhere,
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw two shining dots in front of us,
[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_01]: huge yellow eyes.
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Then a massive silhouette
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: filled the windshield
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: before a bang.
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We both screamed so loud.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Sam slammed on the brakes and yelled,
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Was that a fucking owl?
[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I just screamed,
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not fucking stopping.
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Just go.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We made it back onto the main road
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: and then to his house
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: at around 2.30 a.m.
[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We then smoked some more
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and talked about
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: what the hell we had just seen.
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_01]: To this day,
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: we still talk about it
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and neither of us knows
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: what we actually witnessed.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Were those people running towards something
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: or away from something?
[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_01]: No idea.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Though it doesn't make much sense,
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: we both feel like the owl
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: was somehow connected
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: to what we saw.
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: We just don't know how.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Haunted Central Florida
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: by Juliette
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I grew up in a smallish town
[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_00]: about one hour southwest of Orlando.
[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Growing up,
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: everyone had heard about the areas
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: that were about 45 minutes away from us.
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Brewster and Bradley Junction.
[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Brewster,
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: which has been uninhabited
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: since the 1960s,
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_00]: used to be a phosphate mining town.
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Bradley Junction is still home to some people,
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_00]: but it isn't made up of much.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I have two stories
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: that involve these areas.
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The first story didn't happen to me,
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: but to a few of my friends
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: back in high school.
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll call them
[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Jack, Casey, and Susie.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_00]: These three were part of our
[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_00]: high school's morning show team,
[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and they were tasked
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_00]: with getting footage
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_00]: of somewhere spooky
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: for the show's upcoming
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_00]: comedy whore skit
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that they did every year.
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Jack had researched
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_00]: abandoned areas
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_00]: in and around our hometown
[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and settled on an old,
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: large house
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: that hadn't been lived in
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: for many years.
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It was in Bradley Junction.
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So,
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_00]: the three of them
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_00]: packed up in Jack's SUV
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and made the 45-minute drive
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: to the desolate town
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: to take a look at the house.
[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Pulling up to it,
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_00]: it didn't look like much.
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Just an old Florida-style house
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_00]: like so many others around it.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_00]: But things got weird
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: once they exited the car.
[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Immediately,
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Casey and Susie
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_00]: said they began to feel
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_00]: really cold,
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: even though September's
[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_00]: in central Florida
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_00]: are considerably warm,
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_00]: even in the evening.
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_00]: The two said
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_00]: they both ignored this, though,
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and they tried to see
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: if they could get
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: inside of the house.
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_00]: The front door was locked,
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: but the back was not.
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_00]: All three of them
[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_00]: told me that
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the very moment
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: they stepped foot in the home,
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: something felt wrong.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The atmosphere felt thick,
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and all their chests
[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_00]: became heavy.
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It was so intense for Casey
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that she began to cry
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_00]: uncontrollably.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: After taking some time
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_00]: to console her,
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_00]: they all made their way upstairs.
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The closer they got
[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_00]: to the door of the room,
[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_00]: at the end of the
[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_00]: second-story landing,
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_00]: the thicker and heavier
[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_00]: the atmosphere became.
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It got so bad that,
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_00]: when Jack put his hand
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: on the door handle
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_00]: to open it,
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_00]: he couldn't even turn the knob.
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't locked.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_00]: His body just
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_00]: wouldn't let him.
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Then,
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Jack said something
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_00]: in his mind
[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_00]: told him to let go
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_00]: of the handle.
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_00]: As he did,
[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_00]: the door blasted open,
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and the trio
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_00]: scurried away
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and out of the house.
[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_00]: After calming down,
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_00]: they decided to ask
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: the locals
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: about the house.
[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_00]: An older lady
[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_00]: who lived across the street
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_00]: was kind enough
[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_00]: to tell them this story.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The house was built
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_00]: by a pastor,
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_00]: for him,
[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: his wife,
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and their young daughter.
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Later,
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_00]: after being exposed
[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_00]: for committing
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_00]: certain abuses,
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_00]: he murdered his wife
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and then hanged himself
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_00]: in the bedroom
[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_00]: at the end
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_00]: of the second-story landing.
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Soon after,
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00]: the home was sold
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_00]: to a young family
[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_00]: who lived there
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: for only six months.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_00]: They told the lady
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_00]: across the street
[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_00]: that they had
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_00]: to sell the house
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: due to being terrorized
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_00]: by what they could
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_00]: only identify
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_00]: as ghosts.
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: As of 2022,
[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the house
[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_00]: has been demolished,
[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and a new one
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_00]: has taken its place.
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_00]: This next story
[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_00]: happened during
[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_00]: my junior year
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_00]: of high school.
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_00]: After I had gotten
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_00]: my first car,
[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and I no longer
[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_00]: had a curfew
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_00]: on the weekends,
[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_00]: around 9 p.m.
[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_00]: that December,
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_00]: my friend and I,
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll call him Xander,
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_00]: got into my crappy
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_00]: 1998 Dodge,
[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and we made
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_00]: the drive ourselves.
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_00]: This time,
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_00]: we went past
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Bradley Junction,
[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_00]: driving our way
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_00]: into Brewster.
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Immediately,
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_00]: as you turn out
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_00]: of Bradley Junction,
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_00]: you feel a difference,
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_00]: that feeling you get
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_00]: when you know
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_00]: that you're
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_00]: absolutely alone
[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_00]: somewhere.
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We drove
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_00]: for a few minutes,
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and the streetlights
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_00]: soon ceased
[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_00]: to exist.
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We were there
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_00]: for a scare,
[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and wanted to keep
[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_00]: driving until
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_00]: we saw something.
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_00]: After about
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_00]: 10 minutes of driving
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and taking a few turns,
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_00]: cell service
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_00]: suddenly fell off,
[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and I lost my GPS.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_00]: We freaked out a little,
[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_00]: as we sort of
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: weren't paying attention
[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_00]: to the route
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_00]: we were taking,
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and we were dumb
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_00]: teenagers
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_00]: who didn't know
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_00]: our way back home.
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So,
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_00]: our plan of action
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: was to keep driving
[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_00]: until we regained
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: service
[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and go from there.
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_00]: We drove
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_00]: for a few minutes
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_00]: until that feeling
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_00]: of absolute isolation
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_00]: dissipated.
[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We didn't see anything,
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: but we knew
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: we weren't alone
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: on the road anymore.
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's when
[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: a pair of headlights
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_00]: appeared.
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_00]: They were about
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_00]: a football field's
[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_00]: length behind us
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and rapidly approaching.
[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought,
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: okay,
[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_00]: they can just pass us.
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: But soon enough,
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_00]: the lights
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: were right up on us,
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and they were so bright
[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't see
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: what vehicle
[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_00]: they belonged to.
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I tried waving
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_00]: my arm
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_00]: to tell them to pass,
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_00]: but nothing happened.
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_00]: We drove
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_00]: for what felt
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_00]: like forever,
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_00]: our hearts racing
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_00]: as these lights
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_00]: nearly blinded us.
[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Then suddenly,
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_00]: they simply vanished.
[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Gone.
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_00]: No sign of anything.
[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_00]: That feeling
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_00]: of aloneness
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_00]: returned,
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and we also
[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_00]: regained self-service
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and were able
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_00]: to GPS
[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_00]: our way back home.
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_00]: what was behind us.
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Was it trying
[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_00]: to hurt
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_00]: or scare us?
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Or could it have
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_00]: been escorting us
[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_00]: out of its home
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_00]: until we regained
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: service?
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure,
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_00]: but it was terrifying.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_01]: What Crossed Our Paths
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That Night
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: by Drew's Gal 26
[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_01]: This must have been
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: around 2007.
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: One night,
[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_01]: two friends and I
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: were out ghost hunting
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_01]: in a very remote
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_01]: little town
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_01]: in western New York.
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_01]: My friend Jane
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_01]: wanted a couple
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_01]: of pictures
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_01]: in the old cemetery,
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_01]: so her boyfriend
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and I waited
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_01]: in my SUV
[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_01]: while she did her thing.
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: It must have been
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: around midnight,
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and we were parked
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_01]: on a back road,
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_01]: but there were
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_01]: some streetlights
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: up ahead.
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane was behind us
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and off to the right,
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but we could still
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: see her
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and her flashlight.
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: John and I
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: happened to be
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_01]: looking up the road
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: when,
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: about 50 to 65 yards
[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_01]: ahead,
[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_01]: out from under
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: this streetlight
[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_01]: on the left-hand side
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_01]: appeared this dark
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_01]: figure
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: in a wide-brim
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: hat.
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: He just
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_01]: appeared there.
[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He was blacker
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: than black,
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: more like a void.
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: This was 100%
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: not a person.
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: This being
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: had absolutely
[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_01]: no features,
[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but we could
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: make out the hat
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: from the profile.
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a flat
[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_01]: top hat
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: with a wide
[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_01]: brim around it.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Now,
[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_01]: on my mother's grave,
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it took maybe
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: 30 steps
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: before
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: it morphed,
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: which is the only
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: way I can describe it,
[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_01]: into a black
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_01]: cat
[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: before it reached
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the streetlight
[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: on the opposite
[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: side of the road
[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and disappeared
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: into a field.
[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Again,
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: you could tell
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: that it was
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: in the shape
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: of a cat,
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: but it was still
[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: just this black
[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: void.
[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: John and I
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: stared at each other
[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: for about two minutes
[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: before we could
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: even speak.
[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_01]: When the time
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: came,
[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_01]: all he could say
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: was,
[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: you saw that
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: too,
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: right?
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: We continued
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: to sit there
[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: in absolute
[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_01]: awe.
[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane came back
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: not long after
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and I couldn't
[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: even move
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to unlock
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: the doors.
[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I was able
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: to move
[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: my hand
[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: just enough
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to hit
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the unlock
[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: button
[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and let her
[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: in the back
[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: as she jokingly
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: said,
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: you both
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: look like
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you saw
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the devil.
[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: John
[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: was a huge
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: guy,
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_01]: very tall,
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: muscular,
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and intimidating.
[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I looked over
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: shaking
[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and in tears.
[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: All he could
[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_01]: say was,
[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_01]: cat.
[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I tried to
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: explain what
[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: happened to
[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane,
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: but I struggled
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: to even talk.
[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_01]: It was about
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_01]: a 35 minute
[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: drive back home
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and I can
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_01]: remember Jane
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: saying things
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: like,
[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_01]: this isn't
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_01]: funny anymore,
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: you guys are
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: scaring me.
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_01]: John insisted
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: that we take him
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: to his church
[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: where we both
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: said a prayer
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: to Mother Mary
[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: at the outdoor
[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_01]: statue.
[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: While he
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: continued to
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: pray,
[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I tried to
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: explain to
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane what
[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: we had seen.
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember
[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: telling her
[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and thinking
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: how crazy
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I sounded.
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Now to this
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: day,
[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_01]: it still
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: gives me
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: chills.
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it
[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: was,
[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: it was not
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: of this
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_01]: earth.
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: That's all
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: that I
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: know.
[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: A part
[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: of me
[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: wants answers
[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so badly,
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: but I keep
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: thinking maybe
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm better
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: off not
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: knowing
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: exactly
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: what it
[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_01]: was.
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane and
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I lost
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: touch over
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the years,
[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: but we did
[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: reconnect
[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: eventually.
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: We talked
[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: about that
[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: night,
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: as it was
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: always the
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: elephant in
[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: the room.
[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: She told me
[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_01]: that following
[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_01]: the incident,
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_01]: all of the
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: crosses in
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: her mom's
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: house would
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: randomly turn
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: upside down
[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_01]: for a couple
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: of weeks
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: after this
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: happened to
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: us.
[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It only
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: stopped
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: when Jane's
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: mom went
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: around the
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: house very
[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01]: deep in
[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: prayer and
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: blessed it.
[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane and
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: John lived
[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: with her at
[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: that time.
[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Did
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: something follow
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: them home?
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_01]: seen anything
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_01]: like that
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: again and
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I pray I
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: never will.
[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: letting me
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: share here.
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The White
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Light by
[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Victoria.
[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I was
[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_00]: listening to
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: episode 128
[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and you
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: guys discussed
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the possibility
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_00]: of being the
[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: most vulnerable
[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_00]: to spiritual
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_00]: attacks in
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_00]: our sleep.
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_00]: It reminded
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_00]: me of two
[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_00]: experiences I
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_00]: had, so I
[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: thought I'd
[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: share.
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: To start
[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_00]: off, I am
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Christian and
[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: love all
[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: things spooky
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and paranormal.
[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I am a
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_00]: believer in
[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_00]: the supernatural.
[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_00]: It's also
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_00]: important that
[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_00]: for my job I
[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_00]: study vintage
[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_00]: architecture,
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_00]: interiors,
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and furniture.
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_00]: A few
[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_00]: years ago,
[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: my boyfriend,
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_00]: now husband,
[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and I went
[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to a popular
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_00]: renaissance
[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_00]: festival in
[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Texas.
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: We decided
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: to stay at
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: an Airbnb
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_00]: for one
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_00]: night.
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I love
[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Victorian
[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_00]: houses, so
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_00]: when I found
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_00]: one about
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_00]: ten minutes
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: away from
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: the festival,
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I was sold.
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_00]: It was a
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_00]: long drive, so
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: we got to
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: the Airbnb
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: at around
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_00]: nine o'clock
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_00]: at night.
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: When we
[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: walked into
[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the room, I
[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_00]: was immediately
[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: uneasy.
[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_00]: The energy
[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: just felt
[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_00]: off.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I know
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: that's
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: cliche, but
[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't
[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: know how
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: else to
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: describe it.
[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_00]: To the
[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_00]: left of
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00]: the bed,
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00]: there was
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: a vanity
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: from the
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_00]: mid-1800s
[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_00]: with an
[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: original
[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: mirror that
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: was facing
[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the bed.
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: There was
[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_00]: also an
[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_00]: old
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: paddle
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: brush and
[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_00]: old perfume
[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_00]: bottles from
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: around the
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: same era
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: sitting on
[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the vanity.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The wall
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_00]: at the
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_00]: foot of
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the bed
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_00]: also had
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_00]: a mirror.
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_00]: As we
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_00]: settled down
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_00]: for the
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_00]: night, I
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: had a hard
[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_00]: time falling
[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_00]: asleep.
[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: It felt
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_00]: like something
[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: was watching
[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_00]: me.
[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I told my
[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_00]: boyfriend, and
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: he said I
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: was probably
[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: just unsettled
[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: by the
[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: mirror facing
[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_00]: my bed.
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I agreed
[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and eventually
[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_00]: fell asleep.
[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_00]: ended up
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_00]: having a
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_00]: lucid
[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_00]: dream where
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I was
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: basically
[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_00]: consumed by
[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_00]: an extremely
[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_00]: bright white
[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_00]: light.
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I
[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_00]: couldn't see
[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_00]: anything but
[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_00]: this light.
[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I heard a
[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_00]: male voice
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_00]: say,
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_00]: let me in.
[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I told the
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_00]: voice no.
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It repeated
[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_00]: itself,
[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_00]: let me in.
[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I told it
[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_00]: no again.
[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It told me
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_00]: one more
[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_00]: time,
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_00]: let me
[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_00]: in.
[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I began
[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_00]: to pray in
[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_00]: my dream,
[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and the
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_00]: white light
[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_00]: immediately
[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_00]: vanished,
[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and I woke
[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_00]: up in a
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_00]: panic.
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_00]: sleep for
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_00]: the rest
[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_00]: of the
[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_00]: night.
[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_00]: At about
[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_00]: 7 a.m.,
[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_00]: my boyfriend
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and I
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_00]: packed up.
[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_00]: As he was
[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_00]: taking stuff
[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to the car,
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_00]: to explore
[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_00]: the house
[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_00]: a bit.
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I walked
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_00]: across the
[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_00]: hall into
[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_00]: the dining
[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_00]: room.
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_00]: In there,
[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I saw a
[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_00]: crystal ball,
[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_00]: spell books,
[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and what I
[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_00]: assumed were
[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_00]: spell jars.
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I knew in
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_00]: my gut that
[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_00]: this is why
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I had that
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_00]: dream.
[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The owner
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of the
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_00]: house must
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_00]: have invited
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_00]: something in.
[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I had
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_00]: the same
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_00]: dream one
[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_00]: other time.
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot
[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_00]: where I was,
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_00]: but I was
[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_00]: staying in
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_00]: an older
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_00]: hotel.
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Once again,
[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_00]: there was a
[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_00]: mirror facing
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_00]: the bed.
[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_00]: When I
[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_00]: went to
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_00]: sleep,
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_00]: it happened
[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_00]: again.
[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_00]: A disembodied
[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_00]: voice telling
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_00]: me three
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_00]: times to
[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_00]: let it
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_00]: in.
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: After the
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: third time,
[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I prayed.
[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Then,
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: the white
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: light vanished
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and I woke
[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_00]: up.
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I decided
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_00]: to put a
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_00]: sheet over
[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_00]: the mirror
[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and I felt
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: safe enough
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: to fall
[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_00]: back asleep.
[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't
[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_00]: had that
[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_00]: dream since.
[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't
[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: know if
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_00]: any of
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_00]: this is
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_00]: coincidence
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_00]: or if
[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_00]: something
[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_00]: supernatural
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_00]: is at
[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_00]: play,
[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_00]: but anytime
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: there's a
[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_00]: mirror facing
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: the bed,
[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I make
[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_00]: sure to
[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: cover it
[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: up.
[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Mallory's
[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: story was
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_01]: so similar
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_01]: to a ghost
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_01]: story that
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: my uncle
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: told me
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: from years
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_01]: ago.
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Did he
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_01]: also work
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_01]: in a funeral
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_01]: home?
[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_01]: No,
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: no,
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: but he
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: did run
[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_01]: his own
[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_01]: delivery
[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_01]: company
[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and he
[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_01]: would deliver
[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_01]: to different
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: restaurants
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: around the
[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Napa Valley.
[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh,
[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_00]: okay.
[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's closed
[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_01]: now,
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: but there
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: was an
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: old upscale
[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_01]: restaurant
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_01]: called,
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_01]: what was
[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_01]: it,
[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Villa Romano
[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: in Napa
[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and this
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: was on his
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: delivery route.
[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: He told me
[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: about this
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: late night
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: delivery when
[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the place
[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_01]: was closed
[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was
[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: in the
[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: bathroom
[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_01]: downstairs
[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and the
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_01]: place was
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_01]: totally locked
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_01]: up.
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the
[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: middle of
[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: the night
[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but he
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: heard a
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: bunch of
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_01]: footsteps
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and things
[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: banging
[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: upstairs
[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and it
[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_01]: would have
[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_01]: been basically
[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_01]: impossible.
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: how scared
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: he got
[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: when he
[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: was telling
[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_01]: me about
[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_01]: it.
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It was
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: just so
[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_01]: weird to
[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_01]: see him
[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_01]: like that.
[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He said
[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that he
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: knew something
[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: paranormal
[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: was going
[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_01]: on,
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: like it
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: just
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't
[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: feel
[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_01]: right
[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: nobody
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: could have
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: been in
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: that
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: restaurant
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: so he
[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: basically
[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: just ran
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: out of
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the bathroom
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and got
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_01]: out of
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_01]: there as
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: quickly as
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: possible
[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and
[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: he
[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: see
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: anyone
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: in sight
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: or any
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: sign
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: of a
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: break-in.
[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I could
[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: see how
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: that might
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: ruffle some
[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: feathers in
[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the Tate
[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_00]: household.
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_00]: They don't
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_00]: really believe
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_00]: in any
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_00]: of it,
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: right?
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Like nothing
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: paranormal.
[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: exactly.
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Ghosts aren't
[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: something that
[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: they believe
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: in for the
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: most part so
[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: this was
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of a
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: big deal
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and the
[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: story really
[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: sparked my
[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_01]: interest in
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_01]: the paranormal
[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: at a young
[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: age because
[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_01]: you could tell
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: that he wasn't
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_01]: just making
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_01]: something up.
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He was
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: genuinely
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: scared.
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Well,
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: that experience
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: shaped your
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: uncle into
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: the person
[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_00]: he is today
[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_00]: so I
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_00]: wouldn't
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_00]: trade it
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: for the
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: world.
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: How about
[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_00]: that story
[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: from Mallory
[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: though?
[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: What a
[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_01]: great little
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: story.
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It kind
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: of reminded
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: me of
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: playing that
[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_01]: game,
[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_01]: The Mortuary
[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Assistant.
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_01]: You're basically
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: just performing
[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_01]: all these
[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_01]: tasks like
[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_01]: you're working
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: in a mortuary
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but these
[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_01]: things start
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: happening and
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: things get
[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: creepier and
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: creepier as
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the night moves
[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_01]: on.
[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Eventually you
[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_01]: basically
[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: encounter
[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: demonic spirits
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and stuff.
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a great
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_00]: little game.
[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: there's a ton
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_00]: of really good
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_00]: indie horror
[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_00]: games out
[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_00]: there like
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Limbo and
[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Inside that's
[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00]: from the same
[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00]: developer.
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Phasmophobia
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of course.
[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_00]: There's just
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: garbage you
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_00]: gotta filter
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_00]: through.
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I know
[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_01]: what you
[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_01]: mean.
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Steam is
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: full of
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: those like
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_01]: five dollar
[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_01]: quote unquote
[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: psychological
[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: horror games
[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that are
[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_01]: basically just
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: jump scares.
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_00]: See,
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that's all the
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_00]: more reason
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that we
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: actually have
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: to make
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: this Odd
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Trails video
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_00]: game.
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_00]: happen.
[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna
[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: happen.
[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: even have
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: time to
[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_00]: wipe our
[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_00]: own butts
[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_00]: these days.
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_01]: we can always
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: wipe each
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: other's.
[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_01]: When I was
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_01]: little I
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_01]: used to lean
[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_01]: over the
[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_01]: bathtub when
[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I was finished
[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: going to
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: the bathroom
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and yell
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: somebody
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_01]: come wipe
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_01]: me off.
[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_01]: That's
[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_01]: adorable.
[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I love
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_01]: that.
[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_01]: everyone in
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_01]: the house
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_01]: got a kick
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_01]: out of it
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: when I
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: did it
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: at this
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: family get
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: together
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: at my
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_01]: grandparents'
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_01]: house.
[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I,
[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah,
[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_00]: my great
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: grandma,
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: she would,
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I would
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_00]: ask her to
[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_00]: sit on
[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: the edge
[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_00]: of the
[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_00]: bathtub
[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_00]: when I
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_00]: would sit
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_00]: on the
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_00]: toilet just
[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: to talk
[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: about life.
[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what
[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I called
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_00]: it too,
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_00]: talking about
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_00]: life.
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey,
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_00]: grandma,
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: can you
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: come talk
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: about life
[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_00]: with me?
[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And I
[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_00]: got a lot
[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_00]: of nuggets
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: of wisdom.
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you could
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_00]: say.
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I love
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_00]: that.
[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I think
[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_00]: he told
[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_00]: me about
[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that.
[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And it
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: was a
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: different
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_00]: time.
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_00]: So she
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_00]: would smoke
[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_00]: her cigarette
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and we
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_00]: would just
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_00]: sit there
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_00]: talk about
[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: life and
[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: she would
[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_00]: keep me
[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_00]: company.
[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember
[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that.
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That's
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: adorable.
[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway,
[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_01]: so it
[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_01]: sounds like
[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_01]: we have
[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_01]: ourselves a
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: non-sleep
[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: paralysis
[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: hat man
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_01]: sighting in
[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_01]: this episode.
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: See,
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: that's what I
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: was thinking
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: until he
[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_01]: morphed into
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_01]: a cat.
[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_01]: good point.
[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The hat man
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_01]: form could
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_01]: have just
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: been like
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: a coincidence
[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_01]: or maybe
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: it's just
[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_01]: one of its
[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_01]: many different
[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_00]: forms that
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_00]: it takes
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_00]: on.
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It was
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: weird how
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: they described
[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_00]: the form
[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_00]: as being
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_00]: more like
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_00]: a black
[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_00]: void rather
[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_00]: than a
[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_00]: solid color.
[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Makes it
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: sound like
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: it's somehow
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_00]: bridging
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_00]: dimensions or
[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_00]: something.
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_01]: really like
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that description.
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I did good.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_01]: you did good
[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_01]: kid.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I actually
[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes
[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_00]: forget that
[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you're at
[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_00]: least a
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: couple years
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: older than
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: me.
[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_00]: my joints
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_00]: haven't
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_00]: forgotten.
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So,
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah,
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: don't rub
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: it in
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: though.
[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: none of
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that stuff
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: is fun.
[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I will
[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: say though
[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that switching
[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to a
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: natural
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: single
[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_00]: ingredient
[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_00]: whole foods
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: type of
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: diet
[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_00]: has made
[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_00]: such a
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_00]: huge
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: difference
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: where I
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: feel way
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_00]: better than
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I ever did
[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: when I
[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: was even
[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: in my
[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_00]: 20s.
[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_00]: like I'm
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_00]: going to
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_00]: inject a
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: gnat here
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: but I
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: promise I'm
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_00]: not.
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_00]: just basic
[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_00]: single
[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_00]: ingredients.
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_00]: really do
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: alcohol
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: anymore and
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I've cut
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: out all
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: refined
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: sugar and
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_00]: rarely eat
[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_00]: bread or
[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_00]: pasta.
[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_00]: it's been
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: great.
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Your mileage
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_00]: may vary
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_00]: though.
[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah,
[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the
[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_00]: truth.
[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You can
[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_01]: cover everything
[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_01]: with just
[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_01]: some meat
[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and avocado.
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Ain't that
[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_00]: also the
[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_00]: truth?
[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So,
[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I liked
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_00]: the family
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_00]: haunted
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_00]: house story
[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_00]: from the
[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Savannah
[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_00]: area.
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's always
[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_00]: so interesting
[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_00]: when
[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_00]: long-term
[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_00]: skeptics
[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_00]: experience
[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_00]: that one
[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_00]: thing that
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_00]: just completely
[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_00]: challenges
[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_00]: everything that
[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_00]: they thought
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_00]: they believed
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_00]: in so
[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_00]: firmly.
[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly,
[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_00]: like my
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: uncle's
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: story.
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I love
[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that stuff.
[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh,
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_00]: hey,
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_00]: there you
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_00]: go.
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So,
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_00]: our friend
[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_00]: John told
[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_00]: me that
[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_00]: his dad
[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_00]: just recently
[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_00]: stayed at
[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_00]: some small
[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_00]: historical
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_00]: hotel and
[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_00]: he heard
[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_00]: heavy
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_00]: footsteps
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_00]: pacing
[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_00]: outside of
[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_00]: his door
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_00]: late at
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_00]: night.
[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_00]: He also
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_00]: said that
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_00]: he heard
[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: sprinting
[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: up and
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_00]: down the
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_00]: hallway,
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_00]: so he
[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_00]: eventually
[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_00]: got out
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: of bed
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and stood
[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_00]: next to
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: the door
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: ready to
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: swing it
[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_00]: open and
[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_00]: catch some
[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_00]: kids messing
[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: around or
[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: something.
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But when
[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_00]: he opened
[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_00]: the door,
[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_00]: as he
[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_00]: heard more
[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_00]: feet sprinting
[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_00]: by,
[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_00]: you can
[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_00]: probably
[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_00]: guess it,
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: there was
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: nobody out
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: there.
[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_00]: He just
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: laid in
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: bed until
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_00]: he could
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_00]: fall back
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_00]: asleep,
[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_00]: but apparently
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_00]: it went
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_00]: off and
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_00]: on throughout
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_00]: the night.
[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow,
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_00]: also like
[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_00]: my uncle's
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_00]: story.
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_00]: know which
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_00]: hotel he
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_00]: stayed at?
[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't,
[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and John
[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_00]: either forgot
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_00]: to ask or
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_00]: didn't ask,
[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_00]: but I'll
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_00]: see if he
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_00]: can find
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_00]: out.
[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_01]: curious which
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_01]: one it
[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_01]: was.
[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_01]: For some
[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_01]: reason,
[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I always
[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_01]: imagine a
[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_01]: small Victorian
[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_01]: bed and
[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_01]: breakfast type
[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: thing when I
[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_01]: hear stories
[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_01]: about historical
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: hotels.
[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah.
[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_00]: For me,
[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_00]: it's either a
[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Motel 6 from
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_00]: the early
[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_00]: 90s or
[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_00]: some Wild
[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_00]: West,
[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_00]: American
[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_00]: reason I
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_00]: never imagined
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_00]: your everyday
[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Hyatt Regency.
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: exactly.
[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Well,
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: during my
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: stay in
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Seattle,
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually
[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_01]: stayed at
[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_01]: one of
[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_01]: those
[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Regency
[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_01]: type hotels
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: near the
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: airport,
[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and I
[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_01]: swear to
[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_01]: you,
[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_01]: there were
[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_01]: ghosts just
[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_01]: walking around
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_01]: in my room
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_01]: during the
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_01]: middle of
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_01]: the night,
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_01]: just passing
[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_01]: back and
[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_01]: forth like
[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_01]: they own
[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_01]: the place.
[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: believe you're
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: just now
[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: telling me
[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: about this.
[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I know,
[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I know,
[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't
[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_01]: know why.
[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We just
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_01]: really haven't
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_01]: talked,
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_01]: but I was
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_01]: surprisingly not
[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_01]: scared,
[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_01]: it was
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: weird.
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I just
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: assumed it
[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: was some
[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_01]: hypnagogic
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_01]: hallucination,
[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_01]: but then
[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_01]: one of them
[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_01]: noticed me,
[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and it
[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: started walking
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_01]: directly towards
[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_01]: me,
[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_01]: like really
[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_01]: fast.
[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Holy shit!
[00:44:19] Yeah.
[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_00]: That's actually
[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of really
[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: scary.
[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Like,
[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of really
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_00]: scary.
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_00]: That was
[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_00]: scary,
[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_00]: yes.
[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah.
[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I literally
[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_00]: said out
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: loud,
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: go away,
[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and it
[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: just
[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: disappeared.
[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_00]: That's like
[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_00]: when Kevin
[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Callister tells
[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: the furnace
[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: in the basement
[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_00]: to shut up.
[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_01]: that's exactly
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_01]: what it
[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_01]: was.
[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway,
[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_01]: getting back
[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to the story,
[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I like how
[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_01]: the author's
[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_01]: dad basically
[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_01]: validated their
[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_01]: experience just
[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_00]: so out of the
[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_00]: blue like that.
[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I can only
[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_00]: imagine how
[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_00]: that must have
[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_00]: felt,
[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_00]: having your
[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_00]: dad of all
[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_00]: people,
