[00:00:10] Forget facts. Forget logic. Forget everything that seems real. You just trust. Believe.

[00:00:23] I think my house is haunted by fool's cap 77. This will be long, so strap in. My partner and I moved into this house a little under two years ago. It's an average looking rancher built in 1990. We're the second owners of the house. The original owner was an older man who had cared for his wife after she had a stroke. She ultimately passed away.

[00:01:27] And being in his late 70s, he decided to move to Florida. We met him briefly during one of the inspections, and he seemed normal. Nothing in the house seemed off either.

[00:01:41] There was a hurricane the night we moved in. Rushing back and forth from the Airbnb to get situated with our two cats that first night was stressful, to say the least.

[00:01:52] We basically threw down an air mattress, got out the litter box and cat food, and immediately passed out.

[00:02:00] Sad note incoming. When I woke up the next morning, my cat Oscar was dead.

[00:02:08] Since he was only seven, and I didn't know if something could harm his brother Max or us, I rushed and had an autopsy done.

[00:02:17] The vet basically said it was a blood clot.

[00:02:21] Probably because of the stress of the move.

[00:02:24] I miss him. He was one hell of a cool cat.

[00:02:28] I think he's still around. His spirit or whatever.

[00:02:32] And I'm almost positive he visits and plays with Max some nights.

[00:02:37] Just seeing Max start chasing nothing around.

[00:02:41] The way they used to chase each other.

[00:02:43] I'm probably crazy, but I feel better believing it.

[00:02:48] One of the first weird things that occurred was a few weeks in.

[00:02:53] I was building some shelves in my office building.

[00:02:56] An idiot-proof kit, with hardware and numbered bags.

[00:03:00] I was on the last step, which involved hammering in these four feet, each one similar to a giant thumbtack.

[00:03:08] I hammered in the first three, and the fourth was... just gone.

[00:03:14] I stood up and searched the room.

[00:03:17] I have no clue how it could have moved.

[00:03:20] I was sitting immobile on the floor, but who knows?

[00:03:23] It's nowhere.

[00:03:25] I check Max. He's a Maine Coon, so maybe it got stuck in his hair.

[00:03:30] After an hour of tearing apart most of the house,

[00:03:33] I give up and stack some quarters where that foot would have gone.

[00:03:38] I told my partner to keep an eye out for it.

[00:03:42] Well, we then found it three days later, on the top shelf of my coat closet, under a ball cap.

[00:03:49] I should mention it's just the two of us living in the house.

[00:03:54] We then start hearing things, and still do to this day.

[00:03:59] The amount of times one of us will rush into a room, thinking the other called out our name.

[00:04:05] Well, it's not even scary anymore, just annoying.

[00:04:09] Other times we'll hear crashing sounds.

[00:04:12] In the early days with boxes and things being scattered and being unpacked,

[00:04:17] I figured the cat just knocked something over.

[00:04:20] But when I'd go check, I'd find nothing amiss.

[00:04:25] The bathtub once turned on while we were eating dinner one night,

[00:04:29] and we found it running at full blast.

[00:04:33] Overall, things started escalating.

[00:04:36] My partner and I promised each other that neither of us were pulling pranks.

[00:04:41] It was serious enough that we swore to end the relationship if one of us ended up lying about it.

[00:04:47] A pact that continues to this day.

[00:04:51] At this point in the game, I had started looking into metaphysical things that I could do to help.

[00:04:56] I'm talking amethyst and obsidian pieces in the house.

[00:05:00] Saging.

[00:05:01] Stuff like that.

[00:05:03] I don't necessarily believe or disbelieve in it, so what can it hurt?

[00:05:08] It didn't really do much that I could tell.

[00:05:10] Things continued to happen.

[00:05:13] Twice in the same day, at vastly different times and in different bathrooms,

[00:05:19] we both experienced an incredibly loud pounding in the attic over the bathroom.

[00:05:24] I assumed the ghost just didn't like whatever we had to eat that week.

[00:05:29] The locks had been changed at this point.

[00:05:32] I started looking throughout the house, wondering if someone was frogging.

[00:05:37] Nothing out of the ordinary.

[00:05:39] However, I did come to the realization that the attic was full of stuff from the previous owner.

[00:05:46] Luggage, clothes, and a whole bunch of other random stuff.

[00:05:51] I still haven't cleaned it out, so maybe something up there is tied to an entity.

[00:05:57] No clue.

[00:05:59] I've never felt anything malicious from the entity or whatever.

[00:06:03] My other half is terrified of it, though.

[00:06:07] I came home one day to find the crucifix in the bedroom turned sideways.

[00:06:12] I can sometimes feel every hair on my body stand up when I go in that room.

[00:06:17] This happens whenever activity is spiked.

[00:06:21] Halloween was fun.

[00:06:23] Giving out candy.

[00:06:25] Talking with the neighbors in the cul-de-sac.

[00:06:27] One kid, maybe four years old, turns to look at my garage and casually says,

[00:06:34] You have a goblin in your garage.

[00:06:37] We didn't have any decorations on that side of the house.

[00:06:41] I'm sure it's just random kids being weird kids, right?

[00:06:46] I have a habit of being flippant, and I started talking to the entity.

[00:06:51] My partner also tried once.

[00:06:53] At this point, we would sometimes hear breathing in the dark.

[00:06:58] One night, she's in the hall cleaning the cat litter.

[00:07:02] She felt something behind her and heard breathing.

[00:07:06] She calmly said,

[00:07:08] I'm busy right now.

[00:07:10] Please leave me alone.

[00:07:12] The feelings and sensations instantly left.

[00:07:16] Then, all the doors in the hallway slammed shut.

[00:07:21] We both started wearing amethyst and obsidian jewelry, just in case.

[00:07:28] I thought ghosts might get bored,

[00:07:30] so I spoke to the ghost and set up a dozen books in the back bedroom,

[00:07:35] not knowing what it might be into.

[00:07:37] I'm nothing if not a gracious host.

[00:07:41] The next day, one of the books was found turned upside down and opened,

[00:07:47] as if being put down after being read.

[00:07:50] I kept more books out, but it never happened again.

[00:07:55] For Christmas, we had six different mini-nativity scenes throughout the house.

[00:08:00] We found various pieces moved into scenes they didn't come with.

[00:08:05] We also had these little Christmas gnomes that we sat on the curtain rods.

[00:08:10] We found one sitting upright in the middle of the couch one morning,

[00:08:14] a good 12 feet away from where it was before.

[00:08:19] One night, we were sitting out front having a smoke.

[00:08:22] Came inside and heard music.

[00:08:25] It ended up coming from a snow globe that was this old heirloom.

[00:08:29] We were not sure how it turned on when we were both outside.

[00:08:33] My partner had even forgotten it could wind up and make music.

[00:08:38] A box of tissues that we always keep on the living room end table

[00:08:42] was found in the garage one day.

[00:08:45] One night, my partner sends me a video while I'm out.

[00:08:48] We have a first-generation Alexa

[00:08:51] that was playing Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran.

[00:08:55] She came inside from having a smoke

[00:08:57] and recorded it blasting away.

[00:09:00] Except I had unplugged it earlier that day

[00:09:03] when our new toaster arrived.

[00:09:06] FYI, the first-generations don't have battery backups.

[00:09:11] Another night, we came back inside

[00:09:13] to find one of our butcher blocks on the kitchen floor

[00:09:16] instead of in the knife block.

[00:09:19] One night, I woke up to hearing knocking at the front door.

[00:09:23] I could see through the glass

[00:09:25] it was a decoration we had hung outside,

[00:09:28] beating against the door.

[00:09:30] I opened the door,

[00:09:31] expecting to see a storm brewing.

[00:09:34] But the night was completely calm.

[00:09:36] The trees weren't even swaying.

[00:09:39] No wind whatsoever.

[00:09:42] The previous house owners smoked in the house at one point.

[00:09:46] That much we know.

[00:09:49] Weirdly, sometimes when you go in the back bathroom,

[00:09:52] it'll smell like someone is actively smoking a cigarette.

[00:09:56] There's been a crazy amount of times

[00:09:59] we've been outside and see movement.

[00:10:01] What appears to be a person in a window,

[00:10:04] out of the corner of our eye.

[00:10:06] Friends and family who visit

[00:10:07] have also noticed this kind of stuff.

[00:10:10] Things go missing

[00:10:11] and reappear in random places far too often.

[00:10:14] So those are most of the big things.

[00:10:20] No, we don't have cameras inside.

[00:10:23] We've considered it.

[00:10:24] Feels like a lot of work

[00:10:26] to maybe catch something moving.

[00:10:29] Video proof wouldn't likely sway

[00:10:31] any non-believers anyways,

[00:10:33] since anything can be easily faked.

[00:10:37] The neighbors filled me in a bit

[00:10:39] about the history of the home.

[00:10:41] The father worked hard.

[00:10:43] His kids trashed the place

[00:10:44] and partied a lot.

[00:10:46] I don't know of anyone dying in that house

[00:10:48] or of any weird activities that took place.

[00:10:52] We considered getting the church to bless the home.

[00:10:56] My partner was raised Catholic

[00:10:58] and I'm more agnostic,

[00:11:00] so I haven't jumped at the idea.

[00:11:03] Again, I don't believe

[00:11:04] but don't not believe

[00:11:05] when it comes to most spirituality,

[00:11:08] mysticism, and religion.

[00:11:11] I did look to see

[00:11:12] if there were any paranormal investigators nearby

[00:11:15] and it doesn't look like

[00:11:16] there are any local ones.

[00:11:19] The activity in the house

[00:11:20] is so intermittent

[00:11:21] that I can't justify offering

[00:11:23] someone to come down

[00:11:24] when there are months

[00:11:26] that go by with nothing,

[00:11:27] then a bunch of stuff

[00:11:29] for a week straight.

[00:11:31] I thought maybe it was tied

[00:11:32] to some sort of event.

[00:11:34] Hell, even the face of the moon.

[00:11:36] But so far,

[00:11:37] I've got no clue.

[00:11:40] If you've gotten this far,

[00:11:41] thanks for reading.

[00:11:43] I'd love to hear your thoughts.

[00:11:44] At Odd Trails,

[00:13:36] today.

[00:13:36] Now back to the show.

[00:13:38] I swear my horse

[00:13:59] is an all-things-creepy

[00:14:01] magnet

[00:14:01] by Lugos

[00:14:02] the Palomino.

[00:14:05] This took place

[00:14:07] in Michigan.

[00:14:08] Some background

[00:14:09] on myself.

[00:14:10] Since I was little,

[00:14:11] I've been able

[00:14:12] to see things

[00:14:14] and feel

[00:14:15] the paranormal.

[00:14:16] I know more

[00:14:17] about the fae

[00:14:18] than I probably should,

[00:14:19] like accurately

[00:14:20] drawing

[00:14:21] an old fae portal

[00:14:22] almost perfectly

[00:14:24] with crayons

[00:14:25] when I was around

[00:14:26] three years old.

[00:14:27] I didn't even know

[00:14:28] the words fae

[00:14:29] or fairy

[00:14:30] at that age.

[00:14:32] I bought my first horse,

[00:14:34] an eight-month-old

[00:14:35] weanling colt

[00:14:36] when I was sixteen.

[00:14:37] I named him Lugos,

[00:14:39] a variation

[00:14:40] of the Celtic

[00:14:41] sun god Lug

[00:14:42] who fought

[00:14:43] in the fae war.

[00:14:44] It was the only name

[00:14:46] he responded to

[00:14:47] when I tried

[00:14:48] naming him

[00:14:48] at two months old.

[00:14:50] I had been around

[00:14:51] horses for over

[00:14:52] ten years

[00:14:53] by that time,

[00:14:54] so I knew a lot

[00:14:55] about their care.

[00:14:57] A few months

[00:14:58] after bringing him

[00:14:58] into the barn

[00:14:59] where I worked,

[00:15:00] he had gone to

[00:15:01] and returned

[00:15:02] from the hospital

[00:15:03] and it was a hot

[00:15:04] July.

[00:15:06] He and his

[00:15:07] two older buddies

[00:15:08] were inside

[00:15:08] during the heat

[00:15:09] of the day

[00:15:10] and only went out

[00:15:11] at dawn and dusk.

[00:15:13] The day went

[00:15:14] normally.

[00:15:15] I got there

[00:15:16] in the morning,

[00:15:17] fed them,

[00:15:18] let them out,

[00:15:18] cleaned the stalls,

[00:15:20] then brought them

[00:15:21] back inside

[00:15:21] just before noon.

[00:15:23] I went for a swim

[00:15:24] and a nap,

[00:15:25] then came back

[00:15:26] before sunset

[00:15:27] at around 7pm.

[00:15:30] I put them out,

[00:15:31] cleaned them,

[00:15:32] made their dinner,

[00:15:33] and brought them in

[00:15:34] at around 11.

[00:15:36] The barn lights

[00:15:37] were broken

[00:15:38] so it was dark inside.

[00:15:40] After dinner,

[00:15:41] I hugged the horse

[00:15:42] goodnight.

[00:15:43] When he turned

[00:15:44] his head

[00:15:45] toward his back leg,

[00:15:46] I thought that he had

[00:15:47] an itch

[00:15:48] that he couldn't reach,

[00:15:49] so I reached down

[00:15:50] and my hand

[00:15:51] was now covered

[00:15:52] in blood.

[00:15:54] I pulled out

[00:15:55] my phone flashlight

[00:15:56] and saw that his

[00:15:57] back legs

[00:15:58] were all cut up

[00:15:59] and he had

[00:16:00] a laceration.

[00:16:01] I called my mom

[00:16:03] and she came

[00:16:04] to help me clean

[00:16:05] and bandage the wound.

[00:16:06] That night,

[00:16:08] I searched the pasture

[00:16:09] with a flashlight

[00:16:10] for any sign

[00:16:11] of how he could

[00:16:11] have gotten hurt,

[00:16:13] but I found nothing.

[00:16:15] We knew the vet

[00:16:16] wouldn't be able

[00:16:17] to help that late

[00:16:18] so I called

[00:16:18] in the morning.

[00:16:20] He couldn't do much

[00:16:21] because of where

[00:16:22] the wound was

[00:16:23] and just told me

[00:16:24] how to treat it.

[00:16:25] Everything was fine

[00:16:26] and things went

[00:16:27] back to normal

[00:16:28] eventually.

[00:16:29] However,

[00:16:30] when I took the manure

[00:16:32] out to the compost,

[00:16:33] I noticed

[00:16:34] something strange.

[00:16:36] I always took

[00:16:37] the same route,

[00:16:38] but this time,

[00:16:39] there were clean

[00:16:40] intestines

[00:16:41] from a small animal

[00:16:43] lying right

[00:16:44] in front of me

[00:16:45] as if someone

[00:16:45] had washed them

[00:16:47] and put them there

[00:16:48] for me to find.

[00:16:50] I asked the barn

[00:16:51] owner and the neighbors

[00:16:52] and nobody knew

[00:16:54] anything about it.

[00:16:55] I felt uneasy,

[00:16:57] like it was

[00:16:59] an apology.

[00:17:00] I know enough

[00:17:02] about these things

[00:17:03] to bury it

[00:17:03] without saying

[00:17:04] thank you.

[00:17:05] I then remembered

[00:17:06] feeling watched

[00:17:08] in the past few days

[00:17:09] at the barn.

[00:17:11] I always brushed it off

[00:17:12] because it didn't

[00:17:13] feel scary

[00:17:14] or dangerous,

[00:17:15] but now I was

[00:17:17] rethinking the wounds

[00:17:18] on my horse.

[00:17:19] I looked back

[00:17:21] toward the woods.

[00:17:22] The pasture

[00:17:23] sits between the road

[00:17:24] and the forest

[00:17:25] with a cornfield

[00:17:26] on the other side

[00:17:27] of the road

[00:17:27] and giant power lines

[00:17:29] beyond the forest.

[00:17:30] The wounds

[00:17:31] on my horse

[00:17:32] looked like something

[00:17:33] had grabbed

[00:17:34] its back legs.

[00:17:36] The cuts

[00:17:37] were as wide

[00:17:38] as my fingers

[00:17:39] and the laceration

[00:17:40] was deep

[00:17:41] and crescent-shaped

[00:17:42] like it had been

[00:17:43] made by a sharp

[00:17:44] blade or claw.

[00:17:46] He also had a scrape

[00:17:48] on the opposite side

[00:17:49] of his coronet

[00:17:50] on his hip,

[00:17:51] which could have been

[00:17:52] from playing

[00:17:53] or falling,

[00:17:54] though it wasn't

[00:17:55] dirty when I brought

[00:17:56] him in,

[00:17:57] so I don't think

[00:17:58] he fell.

[00:17:59] I couldn't shake

[00:18:00] the feeling

[00:18:01] that something

[00:18:01] did it.

[00:18:03] So we called

[00:18:04] a few friends over

[00:18:05] and asked them

[00:18:06] to walk the pasture

[00:18:07] to see if they

[00:18:08] felt anything.

[00:18:09] One was an older

[00:18:10] man named Jim

[00:18:11] who said he felt

[00:18:13] uneasy like something

[00:18:14] was stalking the woods

[00:18:16] and trying to get in.

[00:18:18] The next two,

[00:18:19] a younger couple

[00:18:20] named Moon

[00:18:21] and Adam,

[00:18:22] were told nothing,

[00:18:23] yet they felt

[00:18:25] the same thing.

[00:18:26] Moon even said

[00:18:27] she sensed

[00:18:28] a lot of activity

[00:18:29] and possibly

[00:18:30] a portal

[00:18:31] between worlds.

[00:18:32] I then put

[00:18:33] an old

[00:18:34] iron horseshoe

[00:18:35] on my horse's

[00:18:36] stall wall,

[00:18:37] barely wedged

[00:18:38] between the wood.

[00:18:40] A few days later,

[00:18:41] a massive rainstorm

[00:18:43] hit out of nowhere

[00:18:44] with strong winds

[00:18:45] and lightning.

[00:18:46] That night,

[00:18:47] my mom and I

[00:18:48] were helping the horses

[00:18:50] get inside

[00:18:50] when the power

[00:18:52] went out

[00:18:52] and the barn shook.

[00:18:53] I looked outside

[00:18:55] and saw the barn's

[00:18:56] owner's husband's car

[00:18:57] nearly flip from

[00:18:58] the wind.

[00:18:59] He made it inside

[00:19:01] and told us

[00:19:02] that we couldn't drive

[00:19:03] until the storm

[00:19:04] passed.

[00:19:05] He offered us

[00:19:06] the basement,

[00:19:07] but we chose

[00:19:08] to stay in the barn

[00:19:09] to keep an eye

[00:19:10] on the horses.

[00:19:11] My mom,

[00:19:12] a witch,

[00:19:13] started a spell

[00:19:14] to protect the barn.

[00:19:16] The wind got worse

[00:19:17] and I had to hold

[00:19:19] the door closed.

[00:19:20] The horses were scared,

[00:19:22] but safe in their stalls.

[00:19:25] About thirty minutes later,

[00:19:27] the storm stopped.

[00:19:28] It had lasted a few hours

[00:19:30] and we looked outside

[00:19:31] to see that the trees

[00:19:32] had fallen onto the fence.

[00:19:35] T-posts were bent

[00:19:36] and mud was everywhere.

[00:19:38] The power was still off

[00:19:40] and two fire trucks

[00:19:41] with sirens passed us,

[00:19:42] followed by a storm chaser.

[00:19:45] We followed

[00:19:46] and found that a massive tree

[00:19:48] had fallen across the road.

[00:19:50] No one was hurt,

[00:19:52] but since it was

[00:19:53] the main road into town,

[00:19:54] they had to clear it quickly.

[00:19:57] When we asked

[00:19:58] the storm chaser

[00:19:59] why he was there,

[00:20:01] he said

[00:20:01] there was a tornado.

[00:20:03] There had been

[00:20:04] no sirens.

[00:20:06] It came out of nowhere.

[00:20:08] He said

[00:20:08] it was heading straight

[00:20:09] for the horse pasture,

[00:20:11] but dodged us

[00:20:12] last minute

[00:20:13] hitting the yard

[00:20:14] of a nearby house

[00:20:15] and uprooting a tree.

[00:20:18] The next day,

[00:20:19] some friends,

[00:20:20] including Moon and Adam,

[00:20:22] came over to help

[00:20:23] fix the pastures.

[00:20:24] They immediately noticed

[00:20:26] that the thing

[00:20:27] was gone.

[00:20:29] No more feelings

[00:20:30] of being watched

[00:20:31] or hunted.

[00:20:32] We think that it left

[00:20:33] when the power went out,

[00:20:35] as it may have been trapped

[00:20:36] between the electric vents

[00:20:38] and the power lines.

[00:20:40] Blue goes healed

[00:20:41] without any lasting damage,

[00:20:43] though he has scars

[00:20:45] on his legs

[00:20:45] and a nasty scar

[00:20:47] down his hoof.

[00:20:48] Here are my thoughts

[00:20:49] on what it was.

[00:20:51] I think a fae

[00:20:52] got trapped

[00:20:53] and tried to take

[00:20:54] my horse with them

[00:20:55] or tried to ride him out.

[00:20:57] I believe the clean intestines

[00:20:59] were an apology,

[00:21:01] as intestines

[00:21:02] are considered

[00:21:03] the best part

[00:21:04] of a kill.

[00:21:05] Lugos didn't act

[00:21:07] traumatized

[00:21:08] like he had been attacked

[00:21:09] and I never felt

[00:21:10] unsafe around the fae.

[00:21:12] I did have

[00:21:13] other sightings

[00:21:14] at that barn

[00:21:15] that weren't related

[00:21:15] to horses,

[00:21:16] like seeing

[00:21:17] a silver man

[00:21:19] and other

[00:21:20] various shadows.

[00:21:22] The horseshoe

[00:21:23] that I had placed

[00:21:24] on his stall,

[00:21:25] which was barely

[00:21:26] wedged there,

[00:21:27] took me 20 minutes

[00:21:28] to remove

[00:21:28] when we moved.

[00:21:29] It was stuck

[00:21:31] and I still

[00:21:31] don't know how.

[00:21:33] That night,

[00:21:34] we moved

[00:21:35] to a small farm

[00:21:36] surrounded by fields

[00:21:37] and forests.

[00:21:38] The house,

[00:21:40] built 120 years ago,

[00:21:41] definitely has ghosts.

[00:21:43] For the first few years,

[00:21:45] nothing happened

[00:21:46] with the horses

[00:21:46] until a few weeks

[00:21:48] before October 31st,

[00:21:50] 2023.

[00:21:52] I was in the back

[00:21:53] of the pasture

[00:21:53] at night,

[00:21:54] putting out hay,

[00:21:55] when I froze in place.

[00:21:57] Something was

[00:21:58] on the other side

[00:21:59] of the pine trees

[00:22:00] between the pasture

[00:22:01] and the fields.

[00:22:02] This thing,

[00:22:04] unlike the last,

[00:22:05] made the hairs

[00:22:06] on the back

[00:22:06] of my neck

[00:22:07] stand up.

[00:22:07] It was shadowy,

[00:22:09] with yellow eyes,

[00:22:11] and it moved

[00:22:12] both animalistically

[00:22:13] and humanly.

[00:22:16] Its arms

[00:22:17] touched the ground

[00:22:18] as it darted

[00:22:19] back and forth,

[00:22:20] its head pointed

[00:22:21] at me.

[00:22:23] That same night,

[00:22:24] my e-collar remote

[00:22:26] went missing

[00:22:26] from my neck.

[00:22:27] I found it

[00:22:28] near the fence line

[00:22:29] that the creature

[00:22:30] patrolled.

[00:22:31] My horses

[00:22:32] refused to go

[00:22:34] near that spot

[00:22:34] at night

[00:22:35] and I kept

[00:22:36] my dog away

[00:22:36] as well.

[00:22:38] On October 31st,

[00:22:39] we invited Moon

[00:22:40] and Adam over

[00:22:41] for pumpkin smashing

[00:22:43] and a bonfire.

[00:22:45] I asked them

[00:22:46] to walk with me

[00:22:47] in the pasture.

[00:22:48] As we got near

[00:22:49] the area

[00:22:50] where the creature

[00:22:50] stalked,

[00:22:51] my horse,

[00:22:52] now three years old,

[00:22:54] tried to push

[00:22:54] Moon back.

[00:22:55] Now,

[00:22:56] he never blocks

[00:22:57] people

[00:22:57] as he knows

[00:22:58] it's a no-no.

[00:23:00] We ignored him

[00:23:01] and continued walking

[00:23:03] while he watched us.

[00:23:05] Adam then pointed

[00:23:06] at the trees

[00:23:07] and said,

[00:23:08] what was that?

[00:23:10] He then described

[00:23:11] exactly what

[00:23:13] I had seen.

[00:23:15] They were scared,

[00:23:16] so we headed

[00:23:17] back to the bonfire.

[00:23:19] A few days later

[00:23:21] at work,

[00:23:22] they pulled

[00:23:22] iron horse shoes

[00:23:23] from my favorite

[00:23:24] horse there.

[00:23:25] I kept them

[00:23:26] and placed one

[00:23:27] at each corner

[00:23:28] of the property.

[00:23:30] Since then,

[00:23:31] the thing

[00:23:31] hasn't returned.

[00:23:32] my thoughts

[00:23:34] on what this

[00:23:34] was,

[00:23:35] I have no idea.

[00:23:37] It didn't feel

[00:23:38] familiar

[00:23:39] and I didn't

[00:23:40] recognize it.

[00:23:42] On this property,

[00:23:43] I've seen gnomes

[00:23:45] in the field,

[00:23:46] ghosts in the house,

[00:23:47] and fey traps,

[00:23:49] which are actually

[00:23:49] leaves and corn,

[00:23:51] waving me over,

[00:23:53] but with no wind.

[00:23:55] One night,

[00:23:56] I was in the barn

[00:23:57] with my horses,

[00:23:58] sitting in Lugos' stall,

[00:24:00] when I heard footsteps

[00:24:01] on the roof.

[00:24:03] Lugos and the other horse

[00:24:05] were both alert,

[00:24:06] heads up

[00:24:06] and ears forward.

[00:24:08] I heard footsteps

[00:24:09] walk from the front

[00:24:10] of the barn

[00:24:11] over my horse's stall

[00:24:13] and then

[00:24:14] stop above us.

[00:24:15] We sat there

[00:24:16] listening until

[00:24:17] it finally left.

[00:24:19] I scrambled

[00:24:21] out of the barn,

[00:24:22] locked the doors

[00:24:22] and windows,

[00:24:23] and kept the horses

[00:24:24] inside that night.

[00:24:26] My thoughts

[00:24:27] on this one?

[00:24:28] Well,

[00:24:28] again,

[00:24:29] I have no clue.

[00:24:31] Here's the last story.

[00:24:32] It's a recent one.

[00:24:34] In 2024,

[00:24:36] my contacts broke

[00:24:37] and I didn't

[00:24:38] have any glasses.

[00:24:40] My two horses

[00:24:41] broke out

[00:24:41] and ran down the road.

[00:24:43] I chased them,

[00:24:44] forgetting my phone

[00:24:45] and carrying only

[00:24:46] a halter

[00:24:47] and bucket of grain.

[00:24:49] They ran through

[00:24:50] the fields and yards

[00:24:51] over a mile

[00:24:52] down the dirt road.

[00:24:54] I started crying,

[00:24:56] fearing that they

[00:24:56] would get hurt.

[00:24:57] I called out,

[00:24:58] please,

[00:24:59] let them come home.

[00:25:01] Just after that,

[00:25:03] they turned around

[00:25:04] and came back.

[00:25:06] I saw someone

[00:25:07] with black hair

[00:25:08] and a long red shirt

[00:25:09] walking my brown horse

[00:25:11] calavera.

[00:25:13] They were very small,

[00:25:14] just about chest height

[00:25:15] to my horse.

[00:25:17] I shouted,

[00:25:18] thank you.

[00:25:19] I'm so sorry

[00:25:20] they got out.

[00:25:22] But as I got closer,

[00:25:24] the person

[00:25:24] was just

[00:25:25] gone.

[00:25:27] I know that I saw

[00:25:28] someone.

[00:25:29] They were leading

[00:25:29] my horse home.

[00:25:31] However,

[00:25:32] my horses

[00:25:32] were unharmed.

[00:25:35] This was either

[00:25:36] a spirit

[00:25:36] or God

[00:25:37] answering my call

[00:25:38] for help.

[00:25:39] I don't know who,

[00:25:41] but I'm very grateful.

[00:26:08] I'm not sure

[00:26:09] what I saw.

[00:26:10] By living dead girl

[00:26:14] 196555.

[00:26:17] My mom had knee

[00:26:18] replacement surgery

[00:26:19] last Tuesday.

[00:26:21] She came home

[00:26:22] Wednesday

[00:26:22] and by Saturday

[00:26:24] night,

[00:26:24] she had a fever

[00:26:25] and some redness

[00:26:26] around her knee

[00:26:27] along with

[00:26:28] significant swelling

[00:26:30] in that whole leg.

[00:26:31] So we went back

[00:26:32] to the hospital.

[00:26:34] This was around

[00:26:35] 10pm

[00:26:36] so it's dark.

[00:26:38] I'm driving,

[00:26:39] mom is in the

[00:26:40] passenger seat

[00:26:41] and my 12-year-old

[00:26:43] daughter is in

[00:26:43] the back middle seat.

[00:26:45] We are driving

[00:26:46] along for 10 minutes

[00:26:48] on a rural highway

[00:26:49] with no other

[00:26:50] cars in sight.

[00:26:52] I don't think

[00:26:53] we'd seen another

[00:26:54] vehicle since we

[00:26:55] left.

[00:26:56] As we drive

[00:26:57] through this

[00:26:58] particularly curvy

[00:26:59] stretch of highway,

[00:27:01] with a small creek

[00:27:02] on our right

[00:27:03] and a steep hillside

[00:27:04] on our left,

[00:27:06] the caution

[00:27:07] speed limit sign

[00:27:08] says 30mph.

[00:27:10] So we are going

[00:27:11] slow around

[00:27:12] these two curves

[00:27:14] when all of a sudden

[00:27:15] we see blue lights

[00:27:18] across the trees

[00:27:19] in front of us,

[00:27:20] inside the car

[00:27:21] and when I looked

[00:27:23] in my rear view

[00:27:24] door mirror

[00:27:24] I saw blue lights

[00:27:26] flash behind us.

[00:27:29] But

[00:27:29] this was just

[00:27:31] for a second.

[00:27:32] Like suddenly

[00:27:33] there was a cop

[00:27:34] behind us

[00:27:35] but with no

[00:27:36] headlights.

[00:27:38] And he hit the

[00:27:39] cherries for one

[00:27:40] second

[00:27:40] then was gone.

[00:27:42] And there were

[00:27:43] no red lights.

[00:27:45] Just a flash

[00:27:46] of very bright

[00:27:47] blue that lit up

[00:27:48] the inside of the

[00:27:49] car

[00:27:49] and all around us

[00:27:51] and then

[00:27:51] gone.

[00:27:53] Nothing.

[00:27:55] There was no

[00:27:56] cop.

[00:27:56] No other cars.

[00:27:59] Nothing behind

[00:28:00] or in front of us.

[00:28:02] So here's where

[00:28:03] it gets

[00:28:04] really weird.

[00:28:06] This place

[00:28:07] where the speed

[00:28:08] limit drops

[00:28:08] to 30mph

[00:28:09] around these

[00:28:11] tight curves

[00:28:12] is where

[00:28:13] two people

[00:28:13] died in a crash

[00:28:15] years ago.

[00:28:16] And I remember

[00:28:17] it because it

[00:28:18] kinda tore up

[00:28:19] the highway

[00:28:19] where the

[00:28:20] semi rolled.

[00:28:22] To this day

[00:28:23] there are two

[00:28:24] wooden crosses

[00:28:24] on the side

[00:28:25] of the road

[00:28:26] in that spot.

[00:28:28] My mom

[00:28:29] is a very

[00:28:29] religious

[00:28:30] good Christian

[00:28:31] woman

[00:28:31] who doesn't

[00:28:33] necessarily

[00:28:33] believe ghosts

[00:28:34] are walking

[00:28:35] this earth

[00:28:35] with us.

[00:28:37] But I on the

[00:28:38] other hand

[00:28:38] don't see

[00:28:39] things like

[00:28:40] she does

[00:28:40] and believe

[00:28:41] souls have

[00:28:42] energy

[00:28:43] and could

[00:28:44] very well

[00:28:44] exist without

[00:28:45] being in

[00:28:46] heaven or

[00:28:46] hell.

[00:28:48] She thinks

[00:28:49] it was a

[00:28:49] serial killer

[00:28:50] or something

[00:28:51] along those

[00:28:52] lines

[00:28:52] trying to

[00:28:53] get people

[00:28:54] to stop

[00:28:54] by flashing

[00:28:55] those bright

[00:28:55] blue lights

[00:28:56] at them.

[00:28:57] I personally

[00:28:59] think we

[00:28:59] passed through

[00:29:00] a glitch

[00:29:00] in the matrix

[00:29:01] and saw

[00:29:02] the emergency

[00:29:03] lights from

[00:29:03] the accident

[00:29:04] from where

[00:29:04] those people

[00:29:05] died.

[00:29:07] My daughter

[00:29:08] isn't sure

[00:29:08] what she

[00:29:09] saw.

[00:29:10] I mean

[00:29:11] she saw

[00:29:12] what we

[00:29:12] did

[00:29:12] but she

[00:29:13] didn't

[00:29:14] know

[00:29:14] what it

[00:29:14] was

[00:29:14] either.

[00:29:16] No

[00:29:16] logical

[00:29:17] explanation

[00:29:17] between

[00:29:18] the three

[00:29:18] of us.

[00:29:19] The Cedar

[00:29:36] Closet

[00:29:37] by As

[00:29:38] Above

[00:29:38] So Below

[00:29:39] 75

[00:29:41] We moved

[00:29:43] from the

[00:29:43] city to

[00:29:44] a big

[00:29:44] house in

[00:29:45] a quiet

[00:29:45] suburban

[00:29:45] neighborhood

[00:29:46] when I

[00:29:46] was five.

[00:29:47] My parents

[00:29:48] bought the

[00:29:49] house from

[00:29:50] the widow

[00:29:50] of a very

[00:29:51] successful garment

[00:29:52] industry executive.

[00:29:54] He had the

[00:29:55] house custom built

[00:29:56] for his wife

[00:29:57] and she had

[00:29:58] the entire

[00:29:58] thing professionally

[00:29:59] decorated with

[00:30:00] every room

[00:30:01] in a different

[00:30:02] theme.

[00:30:02] This made

[00:30:04] for a

[00:30:04] very

[00:30:04] interesting

[00:30:05] childhood

[00:30:06] with a

[00:30:07] lot of

[00:30:07] discoveries.

[00:30:08] Within a

[00:30:09] few days

[00:30:10] of moving

[00:30:10] in,

[00:30:11] my parents

[00:30:12] found two

[00:30:12] very strange

[00:30:13] books hidden

[00:30:14] in the crawl

[00:30:15] space above

[00:30:16] their closet.

[00:30:17] The first

[00:30:18] was a

[00:30:19] small address

[00:30:19] book with

[00:30:20] the names

[00:30:20] and addresses

[00:30:21] of prominent

[00:30:22] Jewish

[00:30:22] gangsters

[00:30:23] from the

[00:30:23] 1940s

[00:30:24] and 50s.

[00:30:25] The other

[00:30:26] was a

[00:30:26] notebook

[00:30:27] containing

[00:30:27] detailed

[00:30:28] information

[00:30:28] on animals,

[00:30:30] mainly dogs

[00:30:31] and cats.

[00:30:31] Maybe

[00:30:33] they were

[00:30:33] someone's

[00:30:34] pets.

[00:30:34] Well,

[00:30:35] my mother

[00:30:36] felt that

[00:30:37] it had to

[00:30:37] do with

[00:30:38] sacrifice,

[00:30:39] as there

[00:30:39] were pentagrams

[00:30:40] drawn and

[00:30:41] incantations

[00:30:42] written with

[00:30:43] dates.

[00:30:44] Both books

[00:30:45] were burned

[00:30:46] in the

[00:30:46] fireplace by

[00:30:47] my father

[00:30:48] shortly

[00:30:48] after uncovering

[00:30:49] them.

[00:30:50] Those things

[00:30:51] are unrelated

[00:30:52] to this

[00:30:52] story,

[00:30:52] but they

[00:30:53] are just

[00:30:54] a few

[00:30:55] strange

[00:30:55] details

[00:30:56] of the

[00:30:56] home

[00:30:57] that I

[00:30:57] grew up

[00:30:58] in.

[00:30:59] This

[00:31:00] story isn't

[00:31:00] about me,

[00:31:01] though.

[00:31:01] It's

[00:31:02] about my

[00:31:02] older

[00:31:03] brother.

[00:31:03] We'll

[00:31:04] call him

[00:31:04] Jay.

[00:31:05] He's

[00:31:06] the

[00:31:06] oldest

[00:31:06] of

[00:31:07] three,

[00:31:08] six

[00:31:08] years

[00:31:08] my

[00:31:09] senior

[00:31:09] and

[00:31:10] four

[00:31:10] years

[00:31:10] older

[00:31:10] than

[00:31:11] my

[00:31:11] sister.

[00:31:12] My

[00:31:13] parents

[00:31:13] divorced

[00:31:13] when he

[00:31:14] was a

[00:31:14] teenager

[00:31:15] in the

[00:31:15] mid-80s,

[00:31:16] and at

[00:31:17] that point,

[00:31:17] all bets

[00:31:18] were off

[00:31:19] for my

[00:31:19] brother.

[00:31:20] My mom

[00:31:21] is very

[00:31:21] easygoing

[00:31:22] and hippie-ish,

[00:31:23] but my

[00:31:23] father always

[00:31:24] laid down

[00:31:25] the law.

[00:31:26] With

[00:31:26] him out

[00:31:27] of the

[00:31:27] house,

[00:31:27] my brother

[00:31:28] now had

[00:31:29] the freedom

[00:31:29] to do

[00:31:30] as he

[00:31:30] liked.

[00:31:30] This was

[00:31:31] the time

[00:31:32] of the

[00:31:32] satanic

[00:31:33] panic,

[00:31:34] heavy metal,

[00:31:35] dungeons and

[00:31:36] dragons,

[00:31:36] and the

[00:31:37] Commodore 64

[00:31:38] computer.

[00:31:39] My brother

[00:31:40] embraced all

[00:31:41] of it.

[00:31:42] He was

[00:31:43] a

[00:31:43] classically

[00:31:44] trained

[00:31:44] and

[00:31:44] naturally

[00:31:45] gifted

[00:31:45] artist

[00:31:46] before

[00:31:46] all of

[00:31:47] this.

[00:31:47] He

[00:31:48] regularly

[00:31:48] won

[00:31:49] contests,

[00:31:50] and his

[00:31:51] art hung

[00:31:51] all around

[00:31:52] our

[00:31:52] house,

[00:31:53] as well

[00:31:53] as in

[00:31:54] our

[00:31:54] schools

[00:31:55] and

[00:31:55] principals'

[00:31:56] offices.

[00:31:57] He

[00:31:57] attended

[00:31:58] art school

[00:31:58] twice a

[00:31:59] week,

[00:32:00] but once he

[00:32:00] got into

[00:32:01] heavy metal

[00:32:01] and D&D,

[00:32:03] his interests

[00:32:03] shifted.

[00:32:05] He

[00:32:05] grew his

[00:32:06] hair long,

[00:32:07] and his

[00:32:08] circle of

[00:32:09] friends began

[00:32:10] to change.

[00:32:10] They

[00:32:11] went from

[00:32:11] nerdy

[00:32:12] computer

[00:32:12] kids to

[00:32:13] heavy metal

[00:32:14] heads and

[00:32:15] motorcycle

[00:32:15] jackets and

[00:32:16] Iron Maiden

[00:32:17] t-shirts.

[00:32:17] They

[00:32:18] would often

[00:32:18] be over

[00:32:19] at the

[00:32:19] house when

[00:32:20] I came

[00:32:20] home from

[00:32:21] school,

[00:32:21] and I

[00:32:22] could always

[00:32:22] smell what

[00:32:23] they had

[00:32:24] been up

[00:32:24] to.

[00:32:25] One of

[00:32:26] his new

[00:32:26] friends would

[00:32:27] change our

[00:32:28] perceptions of

[00:32:28] reality and

[00:32:30] our ideas

[00:32:30] about life

[00:32:31] after death.

[00:32:32] His name

[00:32:33] was Ed.

[00:32:34] He was a

[00:32:35] strange-looking

[00:32:35] guy,

[00:32:36] short,

[00:32:37] eccentric,

[00:32:38] and odd

[00:32:39] by all

[00:32:40] accounts.

[00:32:40] Ed.

[00:32:41] He

[00:32:41] nice at

[00:32:41] the same

[00:32:42] time.

[00:32:43] Ed.

[00:32:44] He could

[00:32:44] also ride

[00:32:45] a unicycle

[00:32:45] and would

[00:32:46] regularly carry

[00:32:47] a Ouija board

[00:32:48] everywhere that

[00:32:49] he went.

[00:32:50] He carried

[00:32:51] it on his

[00:32:52] back beneath

[00:32:53] a long,

[00:32:54] black trench

[00:32:54] coat.

[00:32:56] What gave Ed

[00:32:57] credibility in

[00:32:58] our eyes was

[00:32:59] the way that he

[00:33:00] used the board.

[00:33:01] He would only

[00:33:02] use one hand,

[00:33:03] barely touching

[00:33:04] it.

[00:33:04] In a flat,

[00:33:06] emotionless

[00:33:06] tone, he would

[00:33:07] recite the words

[00:33:08] being spelled

[00:33:10] the planchette

[00:33:11] would move

[00:33:12] around so

[00:33:12] fast and

[00:33:13] deliberately that

[00:33:14] it was hard

[00:33:15] to even see

[00:33:16] what it was

[00:33:17] spelling out.

[00:33:19] Seeing that as

[00:33:20] a little kid

[00:33:20] and not really

[00:33:21] understanding,

[00:33:23] well, it was

[00:33:24] scary.

[00:33:26] One night,

[00:33:27] shortly after our

[00:33:28] uncle committed

[00:33:28] suicide, our

[00:33:30] cousins came over.

[00:33:31] Ed was there

[00:33:32] as well.

[00:33:33] He knew no one

[00:33:35] there other than

[00:33:36] my brother,

[00:33:36] nor did he

[00:33:37] know any

[00:33:38] detail about

[00:33:39] my cousins

[00:33:40] losing their

[00:33:40] father.

[00:33:42] We were in

[00:33:43] my brother's

[00:33:43] room, and

[00:33:44] within a few

[00:33:45] minutes, Ed

[00:33:45] made contact

[00:33:46] with him.

[00:33:47] Ed, who

[00:33:48] had never

[00:33:49] met my

[00:33:49] cousin before,

[00:33:50] said,

[00:33:51] Elle, I

[00:33:52] have a

[00:33:53] message for

[00:33:53] you.

[00:33:54] John says

[00:33:55] he's at

[00:33:56] peace in

[00:33:56] purgatory

[00:33:57] now and

[00:33:58] to take care

[00:33:59] of your

[00:33:59] mother and

[00:33:59] sister.

[00:34:01] He said

[00:34:01] a few more

[00:34:02] personal things

[00:34:03] that my

[00:34:03] cousin thought

[00:34:04] were profound

[00:34:05] because Ed

[00:34:06] could never

[00:34:06] have known

[00:34:07] any of it.

[00:34:08] My cousin,

[00:34:10] now crying,

[00:34:10] said,

[00:34:11] how do I

[00:34:12] know this

[00:34:13] is really

[00:34:13] even you?

[00:34:15] Ed replied,

[00:34:17] how about a

[00:34:17] picture?

[00:34:18] Maybe a

[00:34:19] headshot?

[00:34:21] This rocked

[00:34:22] my whole

[00:34:23] family in

[00:34:23] that room.

[00:34:25] My uncle

[00:34:25] had taken

[00:34:26] his life by

[00:34:27] shooting himself

[00:34:28] in the head.

[00:34:29] Even crazier

[00:34:30] still, that

[00:34:32] response was

[00:34:32] precisely his

[00:34:34] brand of

[00:34:35] dark humor.

[00:34:36] He would

[00:34:37] totally say

[00:34:37] something like

[00:34:38] that.

[00:34:39] They were all

[00:34:40] reduced to

[00:34:41] tears, including

[00:34:42] my mother, who

[00:34:43] had only come

[00:34:44] in to see why

[00:34:45] everything had

[00:34:46] gotten so

[00:34:46] quiet.

[00:34:48] Ed became a

[00:34:49] regular guest at

[00:34:50] our house for

[00:34:50] a while, and

[00:34:51] the happenings

[00:34:52] became stranger

[00:34:53] and stranger,

[00:34:55] but it would

[00:34:55] all eventually

[00:34:56] come to a

[00:34:57] head for my

[00:34:57] brother.

[00:34:58] One weekend,

[00:35:00] my sister and

[00:35:00] I were with

[00:35:01] our dad and

[00:35:02] my mother was

[00:35:02] away, so my

[00:35:03] brother had

[00:35:04] the house

[00:35:04] all to

[00:35:04] himself.

[00:35:05] He said he

[00:35:06] had a few

[00:35:06] friends over

[00:35:07] and they were

[00:35:07] playing computer

[00:35:08] games in the

[00:35:09] basement.

[00:35:10] Next to the

[00:35:11] computer desk

[00:35:12] was the door

[00:35:13] to a large

[00:35:14] cedar closet.

[00:35:15] This was where

[00:35:16] my mother kept

[00:35:17] all of our

[00:35:17] seasonal clothes

[00:35:19] and her

[00:35:20] better clothing.

[00:35:21] For the

[00:35:22] most part,

[00:35:23] no one really

[00:35:23] went in there

[00:35:24] and the door

[00:35:25] was always

[00:35:25] closed.

[00:35:27] There were

[00:35:28] three people

[00:35:28] there when

[00:35:29] the lights

[00:35:29] went out in

[00:35:30] the basement.

[00:35:31] Everyone

[00:35:32] froze in

[00:35:32] place.

[00:35:33] Then the

[00:35:34] door to

[00:35:35] the cedar

[00:35:35] closet began

[00:35:36] to slowly

[00:35:37] rattle.

[00:35:38] It was

[00:35:38] pitch dark,

[00:35:40] so they

[00:35:40] didn't know

[00:35:41] where the

[00:35:41] sound was

[00:35:42] coming from

[00:35:42] at first.

[00:35:43] Then it

[00:35:44] got louder

[00:35:44] and more

[00:35:45] intense.

[00:35:46] Someone then

[00:35:47] lit a

[00:35:48] lighter.

[00:35:49] The rattling

[00:35:50] became banging

[00:35:51] as if someone

[00:35:52] was trying to

[00:35:53] get out.

[00:35:54] My brother

[00:35:55] said it

[00:35:55] looked like

[00:35:56] the heavy

[00:35:56] wooden door

[00:35:57] was going to

[00:35:57] burst from

[00:35:58] its hinges

[00:35:58] and to

[00:35:59] this day

[00:36:00] he is

[00:36:01] convinced

[00:36:01] that

[00:36:02] something

[00:36:02] huge

[00:36:02] was on

[00:36:03] the other

[00:36:03] side of

[00:36:04] the door

[00:36:04] that night.

[00:36:05] The three

[00:36:06] of them

[00:36:06] ran up

[00:36:07] the stairs

[00:36:07] tripping

[00:36:08] over each

[00:36:09] other in

[00:36:09] the dark

[00:36:09] and out

[00:36:10] the front

[00:36:10] door.

[00:36:11] When my

[00:36:12] mother came

[00:36:12] home the

[00:36:13] following

[00:36:13] afternoon

[00:36:14] the door

[00:36:14] was still

[00:36:15] wide open

[00:36:15] and my

[00:36:16] brother

[00:36:16] was nowhere

[00:36:17] to be

[00:36:17] found.

[00:36:18] Eventually

[00:36:19] he turned

[00:36:20] up and

[00:36:20] he told her

[00:36:21] what they

[00:36:22] had experienced

[00:36:23] the night

[00:36:23] before.

[00:36:24] She must

[00:36:25] have believed

[00:36:26] him because

[00:36:26] she had the

[00:36:27] house blessed

[00:36:28] shortly

[00:36:28] afterward.

[00:36:30] We all

[00:36:31] saw,

[00:36:32] felt,

[00:36:32] and experienced

[00:36:33] things in

[00:36:33] that house

[00:36:34] that could

[00:36:34] never be

[00:36:34] explained but

[00:36:35] not all of

[00:36:36] it was scary

[00:36:37] or evil

[00:36:38] to me.

[00:36:38] My takeaway

[00:36:40] growing up

[00:36:40] there was

[00:36:41] that sometimes

[00:36:42] people themselves

[00:36:43] are haunted.

[00:36:44] Maybe it's

[00:36:46] just the way

[00:36:46] they interact

[00:36:47] with places

[00:36:48] that draw out

[00:36:49] different energies

[00:36:50] and project

[00:36:51] them at

[00:36:52] that person.

[00:37:13] Let's dive

[00:37:14] into that story

[00:37:15] you narrated

[00:37:15] about the

[00:37:16] haunted house

[00:37:17] and the

[00:37:17] experiences

[00:37:18] surrounding

[00:37:18] the brother

[00:37:19] named

[00:37:20] Jay.

[00:37:21] Oh yeah,

[00:37:21] such a good

[00:37:22] one.

[00:37:22] Yeah,

[00:37:23] it was great.

[00:37:23] Imagine

[00:37:24] growing up

[00:37:24] in a place

[00:37:25] like that

[00:37:25] just filled

[00:37:26] with so much

[00:37:27] history.

[00:37:27] I don't even

[00:37:28] think I've

[00:37:28] lived in

[00:37:29] anything built

[00:37:29] before the

[00:37:30] 80s.

[00:37:31] I'm probably

[00:37:31] missing out.

[00:37:32] Yeah,

[00:37:33] the house

[00:37:34] itself was

[00:37:34] interesting

[00:37:34] enough but

[00:37:35] what would

[00:37:36] really make

[00:37:37] me feel

[00:37:37] uneasy

[00:37:38] growing up

[00:37:38] there would

[00:37:39] be finding

[00:37:39] the address

[00:37:40] book full

[00:37:41] of all

[00:37:41] of those

[00:37:42] prominent

[00:37:42] 1940s

[00:37:43] gangsters

[00:37:43] and all

[00:37:44] of their

[00:37:44] contact info.

[00:37:45] Tommy

[00:37:46] Tough

[00:37:46] Knuckles.

[00:37:48] Always

[00:37:49] Tommy.

[00:37:50] Yeah,

[00:37:50] yeah.

[00:37:51] Then there's

[00:37:51] the second

[00:37:52] notebook with

[00:37:52] all the details

[00:37:53] on cats and

[00:37:54] dogs like

[00:37:55] what's going

[00:37:56] on there?

[00:37:56] Well,

[00:37:57] I think they

[00:37:58] did the right

[00:37:59] thing by

[00:37:59] burning them.

[00:38:01] Yeah,

[00:38:01] or maybe the

[00:38:02] wrong thing.

[00:38:03] Yeah,

[00:38:04] I guess it

[00:38:05] depends on how

[00:38:05] easily ghosts

[00:38:06] get offended.

[00:38:07] You know,

[00:38:08] we should

[00:38:09] consider starting

[00:38:10] each episode

[00:38:11] with a

[00:38:11] well-intentioned,

[00:38:13] mind you,

[00:38:14] trigger warning

[00:38:14] for any ghosts

[00:38:15] or any lingering

[00:38:16] spirits who

[00:38:16] might be listening

[00:38:17] to the show.

[00:38:18] I am not

[00:38:19] kidding when I

[00:38:20] say that

[00:38:21] might be a

[00:38:22] great idea,

[00:38:23] covering our

[00:38:23] asses in the

[00:38:24] afterlife.

[00:38:26] All right,

[00:38:27] then I'll get

[00:38:27] to writing it

[00:38:27] up.

[00:38:29] Yeah,

[00:38:29] yeah.

[00:38:30] So this story,

[00:38:31] it was actually

[00:38:32] from the same

[00:38:32] author as

[00:38:33] the Geisha

[00:38:34] Lamp's story.

[00:38:35] I wonder if it

[00:38:36] was in the same

[00:38:37] house as the

[00:38:38] incident with

[00:38:38] the lamps.

[00:38:39] Maybe,

[00:38:40] yeah,

[00:38:40] I'll have to

[00:38:41] reach out and

[00:38:41] check up on

[00:38:42] that.

[00:38:42] They do have

[00:38:43] another story I'm

[00:38:44] going to be

[00:38:44] sharing on

[00:38:46] next week's

[00:38:46] episode that I'm

[00:38:47] really excited

[00:38:48] about,

[00:38:48] but they jump

[00:38:49] ahead to the

[00:38:49] 90s.

[00:38:50] I love these

[00:38:51] stories from

[00:38:52] past decades.

[00:38:52] It's like

[00:38:53] watching a

[00:38:54] period film.

[00:38:55] Oh,

[00:38:55] yeah,

[00:38:55] man.

[00:38:56] I love a

[00:38:57] good time

[00:38:58] capsule movie.

[00:38:59] Zodiac is like

[00:39:00] my definitive

[00:39:01] period piece

[00:39:02] movie.

[00:39:03] That one is

[00:39:04] so good.

[00:39:05] Gotta love

[00:39:05] Fincher.

[00:39:06] I can't

[00:39:07] really pick a

[00:39:07] favorite,

[00:39:08] but one that

[00:39:09] comes to mind

[00:39:09] just because it

[00:39:10] was made in

[00:39:11] the 80s but

[00:39:12] set in the

[00:39:12] 50s is

[00:39:13] Stand By Me.

[00:39:14] I actually

[00:39:15] thought it was

[00:39:16] filmed in the

[00:39:16] 50s when I was

[00:39:17] a lot younger.

[00:39:18] My mind was

[00:39:19] blown when I

[00:39:20] finally connected

[00:39:21] Corey Feldman and

[00:39:22] the Goonies and

[00:39:23] I noticed he

[00:39:25] definitely didn't

[00:39:25] look 30 years

[00:39:26] older.

[00:39:28] Yeah,

[00:39:29] I could see

[00:39:29] thinking it was

[00:39:30] filmed in the

[00:39:31] 50s if you

[00:39:31] hadn't seen any

[00:39:32] of those actors

[00:39:33] before.

[00:39:34] I saw

[00:39:34] Lost Boys

[00:39:35] before I

[00:39:36] saw Stand

[00:39:36] By Me.

[00:39:37] So I think

[00:39:38] seeing Kiefer

[00:39:39] Sutherland placed

[00:39:40] it in the 80s

[00:39:41] for me.

[00:39:42] Well,

[00:39:43] I'm glad he was

[00:39:43] able to do that

[00:39:44] for you.

[00:39:45] Yeah,

[00:39:46] the Sutherlands

[00:39:46] are a common

[00:39:47] name in my

[00:39:47] movie collection.

[00:39:48] I love

[00:39:49] Donald,

[00:39:49] definitely one

[00:39:50] of my favorite

[00:39:50] actors of all

[00:39:51] time.

[00:39:52] Oh yeah,

[00:39:52] Clute,

[00:39:53] Don't Look Now.

[00:39:54] He was a

[00:39:54] staple of the

[00:39:55] 70s.

[00:39:56] Oh yeah,

[00:39:57] yeah,

[00:39:57] definitely.

[00:40:04] It came out

[00:40:04] in the 50s,

[00:40:05] but it takes

[00:40:06] place in

[00:40:06] the 20s.

[00:40:07] So it's

[00:40:08] basically like

[00:40:09] if there were

[00:40:10] a movie made

[00:40:11] today that took

[00:40:11] place in the

[00:40:12] 90s.

[00:40:13] It just doesn't

[00:40:13] seem that far

[00:40:14] off.

[00:40:15] Time is such

[00:40:15] a weird construct.

[00:40:16] I really do

[00:40:17] wish we could

[00:40:18] collectively agree

[00:40:19] to just not

[00:40:20] partake in its

[00:40:21] progression.

[00:40:22] It's weird too

[00:40:23] how time feels

[00:40:24] like it's

[00:40:25] speeding up

[00:40:25] as we get

[00:40:26] older.

[00:40:26] I don't really

[00:40:27] like thinking

[00:40:27] too much

[00:40:28] about it.

[00:40:28] It freaks me

[00:40:29] out.

[00:40:30] Yeah,

[00:40:30] no,

[00:40:30] I don't

[00:40:31] either.

[00:40:31] Yeah.

[00:40:32] Well,

[00:40:32] anyways,

[00:40:33] I liked that

[00:40:33] first haunted

[00:40:34] house story

[00:40:35] that you

[00:40:35] read by

[00:40:37] Fool's Cap.

[00:40:39] Yeah,

[00:40:39] there was a

[00:40:40] lot of

[00:40:40] random stuff

[00:40:41] happening there.

[00:40:42] I have a

[00:40:42] cat and

[00:40:43] he'll sit up

[00:40:44] and stare

[00:40:44] at the

[00:40:44] wall,

[00:40:45] meowing in

[00:40:45] a way that

[00:40:46] doesn't sound

[00:40:47] like any

[00:40:48] other meow,

[00:40:48] but I

[00:40:49] can't,

[00:40:49] I don't

[00:40:50] know,

[00:40:50] I don't

[00:40:50] think it's

[00:40:51] anything

[00:40:51] that's

[00:40:51] paranormal,

[00:40:52] but I

[00:40:53] don't see

[00:40:53] anything that

[00:40:54] he could

[00:40:55] be seeing.

[00:40:55] No flies,

[00:40:56] shadows,

[00:40:58] I don't

[00:40:59] know.

[00:40:59] It's kind

[00:41:00] of concerning,

[00:41:01] I think,

[00:41:01] but do

[00:41:02] dogs act

[00:41:02] that way?

[00:41:03] Yeah.

[00:41:03] Do they

[00:41:03] do anything

[00:41:04] that's beyond

[00:41:04] any explainable

[00:41:06] chihuahua

[00:41:06] behavior?

[00:41:08] Well,

[00:41:08] there was a

[00:41:09] short period

[00:41:09] of time

[00:41:09] where Gadget,

[00:41:11] my female

[00:41:11] chihuahua mix,

[00:41:12] she's like

[00:41:13] two,

[00:41:14] three years

[00:41:14] old,

[00:41:15] she would

[00:41:15] wake up in

[00:41:16] the middle

[00:41:16] of the night

[00:41:16] and stare

[00:41:17] into the

[00:41:18] dark,

[00:41:18] into the

[00:41:19] corner and

[00:41:19] just whine.

[00:41:21] And she

[00:41:22] would do

[00:41:22] this every

[00:41:23] night for

[00:41:24] about a

[00:41:24] week or

[00:41:24] a week

[00:41:25] and a

[00:41:25] half,

[00:41:25] and we

[00:41:26] couldn't

[00:41:26] figure out

[00:41:27] what was

[00:41:27] going on.

[00:41:28] It was

[00:41:28] always 3

[00:41:29] a.m.

[00:41:29] too,

[00:41:30] you know,

[00:41:30] obviously,

[00:41:31] the witching

[00:41:31] hour.

[00:41:32] Of course.

[00:41:33] And I'm

[00:41:34] sure I've

[00:41:34] talked about

[00:41:35] it on the

[00:41:35] show before,

[00:41:35] but yeah,

[00:41:36] I think

[00:41:37] that there

[00:41:38] was something

[00:41:38] there,

[00:41:38] like some

[00:41:39] kind of

[00:41:39] spirit or

[00:41:39] presence.

[00:41:40] It was

[00:41:40] just too

[00:41:41] weird.

[00:41:42] Could be,

[00:41:43] could be.

[00:41:43] It just

[00:41:43] took a

[00:41:44] while for

[00:41:44] the presence

[00:41:45] to let

[00:41:47] it be

[00:41:47] known to

[00:41:47] Gadget that

[00:41:48] they were

[00:41:48] friendly enough

[00:41:49] for her to

[00:41:49] not be

[00:41:50] concerned.

[00:41:51] Yeah.

[00:41:52] Yeah,

[00:41:53] my bigger

[00:41:54] dog never

[00:41:54] barks unless

[00:41:55] somebody shows

[00:41:56] up to the

[00:41:56] house,

[00:41:56] but there

[00:41:57] have been

[00:41:58] like three

[00:41:59] times where

[00:42:00] he has

[00:42:01] done that

[00:42:01] same bark

[00:42:02] after midnight

[00:42:02] and I

[00:42:03] hate thinking

[00:42:03] about it

[00:42:04] so much

[00:42:04] because it

[00:42:05] can't just

[00:42:06] be a false

[00:42:06] alarm in my

[00:42:07] head.

[00:42:07] It has

[00:42:08] to have

[00:42:09] meant he saw

[00:42:10] an intruder

[00:42:10] or a

[00:42:11] ghost.

[00:42:11] That's it.

[00:42:12] One of

[00:42:12] those two.

[00:42:13] Yeah,

[00:42:14] yeah,

[00:42:14] a dog's

[00:42:14] sense of

[00:42:15] smell and

[00:42:15] all that

[00:42:16] is great,

[00:42:16] but their

[00:42:17] intuition is

[00:42:18] really,

[00:42:19] really good.

[00:42:20] So good

[00:42:21] that they

[00:42:21] bark to

[00:42:22] tell the

[00:42:22] world who

[00:42:22] fails their

[00:42:23] vibe check.

[00:42:25] Yeah,

[00:42:25] I still find

[00:42:26] myself taking

[00:42:27] it a little

[00:42:28] personal when

[00:42:28] cute dogs

[00:42:29] bark at me,

[00:42:30] even though I

[00:42:30] totally get

[00:42:31] why they do

[00:42:31] it.

[00:42:32] I know,

[00:42:33] it's like,

[00:42:33] what do you

[00:42:33] see in me?

[00:42:34] Why do I

[00:42:35] deserve this?

[00:42:36] Yeah,

[00:42:36] I really want

[00:42:37] to hear a

[00:42:38] rational explanation

[00:42:39] for that piece

[00:42:40] of furniture

[00:42:41] we're pairing

[00:42:41] up on the

[00:42:42] bookshelf.

[00:42:43] You know,

[00:42:44] I'm already

[00:42:44] calling poltergeist

[00:42:45] on this one.

[00:42:46] See,

[00:42:47] that's a

[00:42:47] completely fair

[00:42:48] suggestion.

[00:42:49] It's just the

[00:42:50] two of them

[00:42:50] in that house,

[00:42:51] and if we can

[00:42:51] trust that there

[00:42:52] isn't any sort

[00:42:53] of pranking

[00:42:54] going on,

[00:42:54] I'd say most of

[00:42:55] this stuff is

[00:42:56] notable and not

[00:42:57] at least

[00:42:58] immediately

[00:42:58] dismissible.

[00:42:59] Oh yeah,

[00:43:00] and the stuff

[00:43:01] left over in the

[00:43:02] attic really

[00:43:02] creeped me out

[00:43:03] a lot.

[00:43:04] Yeah,

[00:43:04] the stuff

[00:43:05] itself and the

[00:43:06] whole haunted

[00:43:07] object possibility.

[00:43:08] Exactly,

[00:43:09] exactly.

[00:43:10] And then the

[00:43:11] author mentioned

[00:43:11] something in the

[00:43:12] attic being tied

[00:43:13] to an entity.

[00:43:14] I wonder if they

[00:43:15] meant an entity

[00:43:16] tied to something

[00:43:17] in the attic.

[00:43:18] Either way,

[00:43:20] I'm sure it's

[00:43:21] possible somebody

[00:43:23] could have

[00:43:24] passed away

[00:43:24] there and

[00:43:25] they may have

[00:43:26] some connection

[00:43:27] to something in

[00:43:28] the attic.

[00:43:29] Or like that

[00:43:30] little kid who

[00:43:30] walked up might

[00:43:31] say,

[00:43:32] you have a

[00:43:32] goblin in

[00:43:33] your attic?

[00:43:35] Yeah,

[00:43:36] it's funny how

[00:43:36] unfiltered kids

[00:43:37] are with stuff

[00:43:38] like that.

[00:43:39] Seriously,

[00:43:40] and I remember

[00:43:41] those kinds of

[00:43:41] kids when I was

[00:43:42] a kid too.

[00:43:43] They'd be the

[00:43:43] ones who,

[00:43:44] you'd only ever

[00:43:45] see them like

[00:43:46] sitting on the

[00:43:46] bus or something

[00:43:47] and they would

[00:43:48] always make a

[00:43:48] point to tell you

[00:43:49] about what they

[00:43:50] heard their

[00:43:50] parents doing

[00:43:51] last night.

[00:43:52] Just some

[00:43:53] form of like

[00:43:53] constant oversharing

[00:43:55] and they're the

[00:43:56] weirdest side

[00:43:57] characters in

[00:43:58] life.

[00:43:58] Yeah,

[00:43:59] I agree.

[00:44:00] I kind of used

[00:44:00] to be like

[00:44:01] that.

[00:44:02] I didn't have

[00:44:02] a lot of

[00:44:03] social skills

[00:44:03] or social

[00:44:04] training growing

[00:44:05] up so I

[00:44:05] just kind of

[00:44:06] made conversation

[00:44:07] with everybody

[00:44:08] when I was a

[00:44:08] kid and just

[00:44:10] said whatever

[00:44:10] was on my

[00:44:11] mind.

[00:44:11] You just

[00:44:12] kind of found

[00:44:12] out what

[00:44:13] stuck and

[00:44:13] what didn't.

[00:44:14] Yeah,

[00:44:15] I guess that's

[00:44:15] why I became

[00:44:15] a podcaster.

[00:44:16] There you go.

[00:44:17] And it worked

[00:44:18] out for the

[00:44:18] better.

[00:44:19] Yeah.

[00:44:20] Well,

[00:44:20] thanks everybody

[00:44:20] so much for

[00:44:21] listening.
